The Sterling Browns have re-
turned from Florida. Sterling man-
aged to do a little deep sea fishing
and caught an eight-pound Drum
Fish which is considered a delicacy
in Florida. Mrs. Laura Brown re-
§ turned home with them.
Marlene Cease accompanied Xv
her mother, Mrs. Vernon Cease,
spent Sunday in Philadelphia attend-
ing a meeting of dancing teachers.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chesko,
Huntsville Road, had as weekend

returned home aftér a trip to the

yesterday.

Don Amesi, a member of Lake-
Lehman Wrestling team, has re-
turned home from Nesbitt Hospital,
where he was operated on for an
injury received in ajwrestling match.

Fire Chief Makes Report
Voight Long, Fire (Chief of Trucks-
ville Volunteer Fire Company, makes
the following report for 1960.
The company answered 25 calls in
all. Brush fires accounted for 17;
automobile fires for 3; assists to
other fire companies accounted for
2; and flushing the road of gasoline
accounted for 1.
Value of property involved was
$26,000.00 with estimated loss of
$1,000.00; value of cars involved was
$10,000.00 with estimated loss $500.

Wayne Long has returned to his
ship USS Hennely at Norfork, Va.,
after spending some time with his

nue, left by train Saturday from
Scranton to spend two weeks with
her parents, Mr. and .Mrs. Lincoln
Long, who are spending the winter
months at Fort Pierce, Fla.

Trustees of Trucksville Methodist

Burt Bryant, 3rd, son of Mr: and
Mrs. Burt Bryant, Sr., returned yes-
terday from Nesbitt Hospital where
he submitted to X-Rays to determine
his injuries from a fall on the ice.
Elmer' Kester, Harveys Lake, was
a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
arner, Sr., on Sunday. Linda Grey,
Ruggles, spent the weekend with
the Varners.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Johnson, on
Monday traveled to Harrisburg to
attend the Farm Show.
Mrs. Audrey Stogoski, Conn.. and
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Wagner, Jack-
son, visited Mrs. Derwood Kocher
and family recently.
Mrs. Ernest Daily and sons, Ernest
and Edward, are visiting Mrs. Clau-
dine Daily. S/Sgt. Ernest Daily has
been transferred to Cuba where he
will be stationed.

Rev. Leon W. Bouton will preach
at all morning services of Alderson-
Noxen Circuit next Sunday morning.
He will dedicate the new chancel
furnishings in the Noxen Methodist
Church and flags in the Ruggles
Methodist Church, and give. the
sermon at the Alderson Church.
Mr.” and Mrs. Chester Jones and
family are visiting Mrs. Jones’ fath-
er, Fuller Ashton. The Joneses have
been living in Georgia and now ex-
pect to go to Thailand.

comfortably after being ill since
Christmas.
Mr. and Mrs. Garvin Smith and
Gary are about again after a bout
with the virus.

meet tonight at the home of Mrs.

Mrs. Howard Higgins and Mrs.
Arthur Wagner will assist in serving.
The ice on Harveys Lake is about
12”, and the lake all frozen over.
Fisherman are quite numerous in the
daytime, and,
catching some nice perchs.
The days are beginning to get a
little longer, the garden catalogs are
arriving, and Mrs. Gilbert Carpenter
has a lone robin, which arrived on
December 31, so we know that
Spring is not too far away.
Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Nelson
visited Mrs. Nelson's uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Gebler, in
Sayre on Saturday.

Moore Receives Watch
For 25 Years Service
A gold wrist watch was presented
to Philip H. Moore, Vice President—
Manufacturing of LINEAR Incor-
porated, in recognition of his
twenty-five years of employment
with the firm. The presentation was
made by A. W. Swartz, Sr, president
of the firm,
Attending the presentation cere-
monies were A. W. Swartz, Jr., ex-
ecutive vice president, department
heads and fellow employees who
have passed the twenty-five year
service mark. There are twelve em-
ployees at LINEAR who have been
with the company more than
twenty-five years.
Mr. Moore has recently been pro-
moted to Vice President-Manufac-
turing at the Dallas plant.
Graduates From Jet
Mechanics At Chanute
A/3c Albert Niezgoda is ex-
pected home at Holiday House to-
day, after graduating from jet me-
chanics school at Chanute Air Force
Base, Ill, on Tuesday. He will have
a 20 day leave before being re-
assigned.
His parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Niezgoda. Albert took his
basic training at Lackland AFB,
Texas, after enlisting July 26. He
was in Idetown briefly on Armistice
Day, but did not make 6 it for
Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Students of father and son teach-
ers of vocational agriculture won
honors last Wednesday at the Penn-
sylvania State Farm Show in Har-
risburg.
Ray F. Henney, Kunkle, teacher
at Elk Lake Joint High School in
Susquehanna County, and his son,
Robert C. Henney, teacher at War-
wick Union High School at Lititz,
Lancaster County, saw their students
obtain the highest degree, that of
Star Farmer.
Paul J. Schuler, Elk Lake, took
the degree for Region I, represent-
ing Wyoming and Susquehanna
Counties. )
James C. Brubaker, Warwick
Union, took the degree for Region
II, representing Lancaster and York
Counties.
Both boys are now eligible to
compete for the American Star Far-
mer degree at the International
Livestock Show in Kansas City.
To qualify for the degree of Star
Farmer, a student must show ex-
ceptional scholarship, | leadership,
and farm management.
Ray, whose wife, Dorothy, teaches
at Dallas Township, has been at Elk
Lake fourteen years. [Prior to going
to Elk Lake, he taught at the Lake-

Father And Son See Their Students
Take Star Farmer Degree At Show
ton school. In 1953 he was awarded
Honorary Keystone Farmer degree
at the Farm Show. He is a grad-
uate of Wilkes-Barre High School,
now Coughlin, and of Pennsylvania
State University.
Robert is a graduate of Dallas
Township schools and Pennsylvania
State University. This is his fifth
year at Lititz, a position he accepted
immediately upon graduation from
college.
He is in partnership operating a
farm which raises beef cattle, hogs
and tobacco at Lititz.
His dad maintains a fine flock of
sheep at Kunkle. Other projects
are strawberry culture and gene:
farming. The farm pond is ¥v
stocked with fish. Ray says havihg
a farm pond helps conservation ‘of
water and soil, as well as providing
pleasure and a fish crop.
