Mrs, Barbara Maketa, Sunset Drive, Oak Hill, ‘celebrated her seventyfifth birthday ‘on Wednes- day with a family gathering. Mrs. Maketa makes her home with Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Myers, her son-in- law and daughter. Mrs. Lizzie Trumbower, formerly of Shavertown, for the past three months a guest at the home of her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ord Trumbower of Sweet Valley, went on Sunday to Middleton, where she will stay with her daughter, Mrs. John Nulton, for the winter months. Mrs. Morris is the former Maude Gregory, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Gregory of Muhlen- burg and before her marriage taught school in Ross Township. It was there she met her future husband, son of the late William Franklin and Emma White Morris, direct de- scendants of Robert Morris, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. ‘The couple was married in Wilkes-Barre and went to house keeping in Berwick where Mr. Mor- ris was employed at the A. C. and F. Car Foundry. Two years later Sweet Valley, they have since been engaged in farming, having been one of the leading growers of fruit and vege- tables and especially strawberries for many years. Neither Mr. nor Mrs. Morris is too well, but Mr. Morris still manages to oversee his strawberry business, and Mrs. Morris, with the help of her daughter, Mrs. Florence Shaw, who lives with them, manages to run her household. Both are members of the First Christian ‘Church, Sweet Valley. There are five children: Renold, Glenn and Mrs. Shaw of Sweet Val- ley; Fred of Pikes Creek and Fleece of Broadway; also seven grand- children and three great-grand- children.
