Bowling has caught on in the
Back Mountain! Since the opening
of the new Crown Imperial Bowling
Lanes on the Dallas-Harveys Lake
Highway hundreds of bowlers have
been descending nightly to pit their
skill against their other team mem-
bers.
Every night, except Saturday and
Sunday, the lanes are booked by
one Back Mountain league or anoth-
er. Among these are the Dallas
Kiwanis, Whitesell Brothers League,
Harveys Lake Woman’s Club League,
Back Mt. Church League, Denmon’s
Service Station League, and St.
Paul’s Lutheran League.
In the afternoons several wom-
en's leagues take over. They are
the Irem Women Golfers’ League,
Dallas Senior Woman's Club League
and College Misericordia Girls’
League.
date is Rose Unger, Davis Street,
Trucksville, who posted a 209 game
high at this printing. If not topped
by midnight on Saturday, Rose will
walk away with the cash prize for
best woman bowler of the week.
Last week the high individual game
for men was bowled by Dale Par-
sons, Shavertown. This was quite a
feat since the high of 222 had held
throughout the week and Dale
didn’t finish his game until ten min-
utes before the deadline on Satur-
day night. He posted a string of
strikes for a 235 total. High woman
bowler last week was Lelia West,
Dallas, with 187.
In League bowling the Back Mt.
Church League, with sixteen teams
going on all the alleys on Wednes-
day nights, the rivalry is very keen.
Recent standings showed Lutheran
“A” team, Shavertown “C” team
and Trucksville “C” team tied for
first spot with records of 9 won and
3 lost. In this league Willard Lozo,
Shavertown came up with the in-
dividual 3-game high of 585, Philip
Van Blarcom, Shavertown, was high
for a single game with 233 and the
high team was Dallas “A” team
with 887.
The Dallas Post will carry this
bowling news each week but it is
important that league secretaries or
presidents send in the information
about their leagues or give the in-
formation to Bob Hanson or Joe
Volley at the lanes. All information
concerning bowling activities must
be reported by Tuesday evenings at
midnight.

Book Club To Enjoy
Outstanding Program
Mr. and Mrs. Felix Weber will
show colored slides of their recent
trip to Switzerland at the Novem-
ber 21 meeting of the Book Club in
the Library Annex. Mrs. Lloyd
Kear, president, says that this will

meeting, and hopes to have an
overflow attendance in spite of its
occurrence the day before Thanks-
giving.
Mr. Weber, in visiting his birth-
place of Mollis, a small village in
the valley surrounded by towering
Alps, saw his relatives for the first
time in forty-five years. Pictures
were taken of snow-clad mountains
far above the snow line, with skiers
flashing down the slopes in mid-
summer, and placid blue lakes re-
flecting the peaks.
In the main, pictures were con-
centrated in Switzerland, though a
few were taken in London and
Paris en route to Switzerland. The
Webers flew both ways, leaving
Idlewild June 15, returning July 16.
