Funeral services will be conducted from the home tomorrow afternoon at 2 by Rev. Robert D. Yost, follow- ed by burial in Lehman Cemetery. Friends may call tonight. Pall-bearers will be Chester Bar- rall, Raymond Searfoss, Elbert Coombs, William Trethaway, and Russell Cease, members of Jackson Grange 1312, and Marvin Yeust. Mrs. Major, 83, died Tuesday night at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, where she was apparently making progress after surgery performed a few days earlier. She was admitted as an emergency patient June 20. Until illness struck, she had been in excellent health. A native of Chase, daughter of the late George and Mary Atherholt Johnson, who were of early pioneer stock in this area, she moved to Hayfield Farm upon marriage to The “Original” . Grange affairs, be- longing to Jackson Grange 1312, Pomona Grange 44, and State and National Grange organizations. She was a member of the Berean Bible Class, Shavertown Methodist Church. She has a son, Corey, at Lehman; a daughter Myrtle, at home; seven grandchildren and ten great grand- children. Arrangements by Bronson. Mr. Evarts, 49, passed away Sat- urday night after an illness of a year and a half which followed an accident in which he was pinned against a stone wall by a heavy piece of farm machinery. His fath- er, the late James Evarts, mail car- rier for Hunlock Creek for many years, also died in the prime of life. His mother, the late Elizabeth Hunt- er Evarts, passed away two years ago. Mr. Evarts was born, raised and spent his life at Hunlock Creek. He was a member of Five Forks United Brethren Church. There is an ex- tensive family connection in the Back- Mountain.
