Harveys Lake Lions Club met
rant with the district engineer of
Pennsylvania State Highways, and
traffic officers from the local town-
ships, to work out a remedy for
the hazardous traffic situation at
intersection of Route 115 and the
Memorial Highway, where the Route
115 turns toward Lehman at a
right angle.
Dr. Aaron S. Lisses, “Accident
Corner” chairman, in reporting on
the discussion, said that the inter-
section plans, as originally drawn,
called for an underpass to handle
traffic coming from Dallas, to elim-
inate the left turn in the face of
heavy Harveys Lake traffic. The
State owns the land where a lake
is now forming from drainage from
newly graded building sites, the
area originally included in the in-
tersection plans.
The lake was never there before,
interfered
with normal drainage and the pond
feet. Two or three feet, Dr. Lisses
pointed out, constitutes as much of
a hazard to somebody pinned in an
overturned car, as twelve feet if
the driver were thrown free.
There have been many accidents
at this point, cars shooting through
Harveys Lake Lions hope to pull
Memorial Highway, as they discuss
safety measures

Up to date nobody has been
drowned.
A blinker light was suggested,
but any expedient that simply
ameliorates poor engineering re-
sults is at best a stop-gap, according
to Dr. Lisses. The measure which
was suggested as most nearly elim-
interestcion is hard to pick out at
signs, a succession of stop signs,
and directional signs far in advance
of the intersection, seem to have
no effect.
Another suggested measure was
painting of curved white lines with
directional arrows on the pave. The
road. Blinding headlights from on-
coming traffic interfere, and the
turnoff needs better reflector but-
tons. .
Seventy - three members and

rate to Journalist third class while
serving with the Flag Allowance of |
Commander Cruiser - Destroyer
Force, San Diego, California.
Edwards, who entered the Naval
service March 8th, 1945, reported
to the Commander Cruiser-Destroy-
er Force Public Information Office
after his graduation from the Navy
Journalist School, Great Lakes,
Illinois. :
Edwards is on the. staff that
writes and produces “Quarter Hour
on the Quarter Deck,” a 15-minute
all-Navy show written for the Unit-
ed States Navy Recruiting Service.
Before entering the Navy, he was
graduated from Westmoreland High |
School, and was employed by Craw- |
ford Clothes Inc., Wilkes-Barre, and
with his father in the turkey busi-
ness at home.
