Deposit & Savings communities, College An Enduring Legacy that which is better than What Mann said After working its way to the semi-finals by a brilliant 5-0 defeat of Nanticoke Monday night, Back Mountain Teener’s All-Stars lost a heartbreaking 12 inning game to St. Therese’s Wednesday night at Artillery Park. The win puts St. Therese’s in the finals Saturday night. Both teams were held scoreless until the 12th inning when St. Ther- ese’s exploded with five runs. Lefty Glen Lewis hurled great ball for St. Therese’s to gain the nod over Back Mountain. He al- lowed only two hits and fanned 16 while walking a pair. Federici, who opened the game in leftfield, suf- fered the loss in relief. Hits by Mike Holidick, Bill Schut- ter, Carl Kemmerer and Russ Belles sparked St. Therese’s uprising in the 11th after the city boys blew several scoring opportunities early in the game. Holidick, Schutter and Kemmerer each had two hits for the winners. Lopasky and Malek made Back Mountain’s only safeties. Win First Game In the first round of the Teener’s Tournament on Monday night the All Stars won a shut-out 4-0 tri- umph over Nanticoke behind the stellar pitching of Paul Malek. Pitcher Gene Yachimiak of Nan- ticoke had plenty of trouble against Back Mountain which sewed up the game in the third with three runs. A pair of walks started Yachimiak’s downfall. On a bunt the pitcher pegged the ball into right field and two runners scored. A steal result- ed in the third run of the frame. Yachimiak had a double and Kwak a single for Nanticoke’s only hits.
