Mrs. Ferrell is the former Emma Uren, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Uren of Plymouth. Mr. Ferrell is son of Mrs. Ferd Ferrell and the late Ferd Ferrell of Harveys Lake. The couple was married at the home of Mrs. Ferrell's sister, Mrs. William Frederick in Plymouth by the Rev. John Jendills. They started housekeeping in Larksville where Mr. Ferrell drove truck for Dewees Brothers. Later they bought the home they now live in at Idetown and Mr. Ferrell did odd jobs around the lake until he drove the Harveys Lake bus. Now, in addition, he and his wife have acquired a concession opposite the | Casino at the Lake where they oper- ate a nice candy and popcorn busi- ness. Kenneth Connellys Are Surprised At New Home Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Connelly were surprised by a group of their friends Saturday night, who arrived without warning to give the couple a house-warming party. Janet Shaver Trains For Airplane Stewardess Janet ‘Shaver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Shaver of ‘Shaver- town, left the first of the month for Miami ‘Springs, Fla., where she is enrolled in the training school of the Eastern Airlines for position as stewardess. She was one of five girls chosen for publicity pictures for the {first trip of “The Golden Falcon,” Eastern’s newest DC-7B plane carrying sixty-four passengers, including Gloria DeHaven, from Miami to New York. Janet, a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and Philadelphia Museum School of Arts, had to reduce her weight from a hundred thirty to a hundred fifteen pounds before she met the school’s specifications. She and other trainees are living at the Miami Springs Villa, a lovely air conditioned motel with a swim- ming pool, during the four weeks course. Its good flavor and keeping quality has made it one of her favorite cakes. Pineapple Upside Down Cake Topping: 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 12 cup brown sugar 5 slices pineapple 9 maraschino cherries Batter: 2 tablespoons butter or margarine _% cup hot milk 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup sifted flour 14 teaspoon salt 1% teaspoon baking powder Melt butter in cake pan. Add brown sugar and blend. Arrange pineapple slices and maraschino cherries over this mixture. In mixing bowl beat eggs until very thick and lemon colored, grad- ually add sugar and continue beat- ing. Add vanilla and mix. Add butter to hot milk. Sift together the dry ingredients. Add dry in- gredients alternately with the liquid to the egg mixture. Blend. Pour over pineapple. Bake in 350° oven for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes. Invert on cake dish.
