Seven Cub Scouts of Den 1, Dallas
Cub Scout Pack 281, accompanied
by den-mother Mrs. Thomas E.
Cease, toured the Dallas Post build-
ing Tuesday afternoon under guid-
ance of Howard Risley, editor. They
were particularly impressed with
the linotype machines and the flat-
bed press.
Present were Keith Sutton, Allan
Jonathan Cease, Ronald Grant, Jos-
eph Hand, William Ziegenfus, Wil-
Draper Schoonover has returned
ome after submitting to an opera-
tion on his foot.
Florence Weaver and Vivian Dy-
mond were Sunday dinner guests of
Ruth and Florence Montross.
Philip Jackson of New York spent
the weekend with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Clark Jackson.
Mrs. Ruby Besteder, Mrs. Draper
Schoonover, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Patton, son Billie, Misses Emma
Jane and Barbara Schoonover, Matt
Schoonover attended the wedding

Den 1, formed in March, 1954,
has made a number of visits to
points of interest, including Luzerne
County Prison, where boys were
guided by Warden William Healey,
and Luzerne County Courthouse,
where they were addressed by
Judge William A. Valentine. Janu-
ary 29 they took a train trip to
Lehighton in company with 900 Cub
Scouts from the Wilkes-Barre area.
Mrs. Cease plans to take den
members to the Commonwealth
Telephone Company, to Hayfield
points of interest, as part of a
“Know Your Community” project.
Lake Noxen Cub Scouts
Hold First Banquet
About one hundred twenty cub
scouts and den mothers were served
a delicious turkey dinner by mem-
bers of the Noxen Lutheran Church
Ladies Aid in the Lutheran Church
Hall Saturday night when the néw-
ly organized cub scouts pack 531
of the Lake-Noxen area held its
first blue and gold banquet. Pack
531 consists of three dens from
Noxen and three from Harveys Lake.
Tables were decorated with white
birch tepees and canoes and blue
and white tapers. Wolf, bear or lion
heads marked off each den. Pro-
grams were written on miniature
scout hats and favors were cub
scout busts.
Speakers of the evening were
Robert Z. Bellas, Dick Williams, Earl
Black and Walter Bronson; Invoca-
tion by Rev. Henry Kraft.
Den mothers are: Mrs. Eleanor
Edwards, Mrs. Elwood Whitesell,
Mrs. Marguerite Shaver, Harveys
Lake; Mrs. Ruth Patton, Mrs. Fran-
cis Kresge, Mrs. Arline Traver,
Noxen.

At Birthday Supper
Lee Landmesser, Pikes Creek, en-
tertained for Mrs. Robert J. Wil-
liams of Wilkes-Barre at a surprise
birthday supper party Saturday
night. Decorations were carried out
in pink and white, with a large
birthday cake flanked by pink carn-
ations and white tapers for a cen-
terpiece.
Guests were Mrs. Pearl Bromfield,
Mrs. Violet Hauser, Mr. and Mrs.
Raymond Royer, Atty. and Mrs.
Donald Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Ar.
thur D. Landmesser, Evadne Rug-
gles, and Robert J. Williams.

Control On Television
The rat and rodent control pro-
gram being conducted by the bio-
logy classes at the Westmoreland
Franklin D. Coslett of WBRE tele-
vision station.
Station WBRE has had a series
