    Ambulance Fund
Pledges Remain
To Be Collected
Dallas Community Ambulance As-
sociation adopted Safety Rules and
Regulations at Friday night's meet-
proposed resignation as chairman
of the driver-training committee,
and transacted routine business.
Jack - Stanley, Dallas Township,
and Leslie Barstow, Dallas Borough,
reported on the ambulance fund
drive in the absence of William
Morgan, chairman. Returns are still
coming in, with cash receipts now
nearly $3,000 and some pledges yet
to be redeemed. Robert Laux, pres-
ident, congratulated Stanley and
Barstow for their cooperation.
Norti Berti, chairman of the prop-
erty committee, stated that folks
better stop monkeying with the
ambulance, saying that things were
left out of position, and he assumed
it was because residents were in-
terested in showing the equipment
to friends. The ambulance, he

Auditor. All are expected to run
again with the possible exception of
Ambrose.
Lake Township
The terms of two Lake Township
School directors, Harold Fisk and
Walbridge Leinthal, will expire.
Fisk who has served a six-year
term, definitely plans to run again.
Mr. Leinthal,” who is also assistant
chief of Lake Township Police, has
indicated that he will not seek re-
pointed out, is strictly business, and
nobody but crew members and of-
ficials should inspect it, because of
the danger of a heater being left on
or important equipment misplaced.
Crew captains were instructed to
sign off when finishing a week’s
tour of duty, leaving for the next
crew captain a statement of the
condition of the ambulance.
Purchase of twelve cot sheets was
authorized.
Present were: Robert Laux, Mr.
and Mrs. William Wright, Russ
Honeywell, Howard John, Ray Titus,
Mrs. Arthur Newman, Jack Stanley,
Leslie Barstow, Norti Berti, and
Mrs. T. M. B. Hicks.

election.
Others whose terms expire are:
Howard Piatt, Hunlocks Creek, RFD,
supervisor; Justice-of-the-Peace
Ralph Davis; Jasper Kocher, con-
stable, and Rodell Kocher, auditor.
All will seek the Republican nom-
ination.
According to observers, Lake
Township has been top heavy with
Republican registrations for a num-
ber of years. About forty percent of
these would normally be registered
Democrats but have proceeded on
the theory that “If you can’t lick
the Republicans, you might as well
join ’em,” and have gone to the
polls under the aegis of the Repub-
7
lican Party. Many of these, as a re-
sult of the Democrats’ statewide
sweep, have now switched their reg-
istrations. To quote one old timer:
‘From now on what the Republi-
cans poll in Lake Township will be
more realistic.”
Kingston Township
There could be a lot of excitement
in Kingston Township, and probably
will. The terms of James Hutchison,
County Farm Agent, and William
Clewell expire as school directors.
Hutchison is president of the Joint
Board and is completing his first
term as a Kingston Township school
director. Clewell is completing the
unexpired term of the late Stanley

Henning. Hutchison has intimated
that he may not run. Many feel
that such a decision would mean a
real loss both to Kingston Township
and the Joint Board. Jim is ex-
tremely popular and his friends will
do everything to keep him in the
field. Mr. Clewell, during his year’s
service has shown that he has the
stature of a good school man. He is
expected to seek a full term.
Another whose term of service
will expire is Arthur Smith, secre-
tary of the Board of Supervisors.
He will stand for reelection on his
record which is considered outstand-
ing. As Road and -Police Superin-
tendent, Mr. Smith has managed
well. He was one of the leaders in
the effort to obtain automatic traf-
fic lights at Carverton Road in
Trucksville and at Center Street in
Shavertown. The Supervisors have
likewise followed an economical and
progressive program of street im-
provements including widening of
Harris Hill Road, hard-surfacing Mt.
Airy. Under his supervision there
has been less criticism of the Police
Department. Kingston is one of the
few townships, where one super-
visor is actively employed as Road
Supervisor and Police Superintend-
ent while the other two are paid
for attending meetings and take no
active part in work on the roads.
This policy is in large part the
brain child of Auditor David Schoo-
ley whose: term expires. David has
contributed farsighted suggestions
in the management of Kingston
Township affairs. He will probably
seek reelection.
The terms of J. C. Roushey and
Mrs. Herbert Williams, Justices-of-
the-Peace as well as that of Francis
Youngblood, constable, also term-
inate.
William Guyette may seek the
office of supervisor on the Demo-
cratic slate.
Ross Township
Two outstanding businessmen
who went on Ross Township school
board together six years ago will
be up for reelection. They are
Charles H. Long, farm equipment
dealer and Alfred Bronson, Sweet
Valley funeral director. Both have
said they would just as soon not
return but it is not likely that the
community will let them slip away
s0 easily.
Cletus Holcomb will seek reelec-
tion as Supervisor and John Luka-
vitch will stand for reelection as
constable.
The terms of William Naugle and
Harry Ruggles will expire on Leh-
man School Board. Both will seek
reelection. Naugle is one of the old-
est school directors in the Back
Mountain area from point of serv-
ice.
Other Lehman officials who will
be up for nomination are: John
Garinger, Idetown, incumbent super-
visor; Joseph Ide, Constable, and
Robert Disque, auditor.
