be out again after an illness at her
home, Coolyn Hill, Huntsville.

the birth of a baby boy, Alan, Oc-
son, aged three. Mr. Rogers is a
machinist at Natona Mill. ,
Albert Williams, Jr., has returned
to his home in Trucksville after be-
ing a hospital patient in Philadel
phia for the past six weeks. He sub-
mitted to surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Miller,
Huntsville Road, Dallas, have an-
nounced the birth of a baby girl,
Mary Elizabeth, October 12. The
Millers have two other girls and a
son.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Slocum and
family have moved from Scranton
to Breeze Hill, Dallas R. D. 1. Mr.
Slocum is district manager of

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nuss, Leh-
man, visited their son, Ronald, a
student at Franklin and Marshall
College over the weekend. They at-
tended the Franklin and Marshall
University of Scranton football
game and Parents’ Day festivities
on Saturday.
Me. and Mrs. Carl Evans, Maple-

nounced the birth of a baby boy,
Joseph, October 22. The Evans have
another baby boy, aged one and a
half and two girls, aged three and

Mr. and Mrs. John H. Blackman,
Idetown, moved to the McLean
apartment on Franklin Street,
Wilkes-Barre, this week. They will
spend the winter there. Mrs. Mc-
Lean has left for St. Petersburg,
Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dennis,
Huntsville Road, Dallas, have an-
nounced the birth of a baby girl,
Diane Louise, October 28. The Den-
nises have a boy, Donald, aged five.

her pinochle club last Thursday

Mrs. Clarence Boston who has
been staying with her mother, Mrs.
W. B. Risley for the past two weeks,
spent several days this week in New

liamstown where they will pick up

Cpl. and Mrs. Sheldon E. Mac-
Avoy, Main Street, Shavertown,
anounce the birth of a seven pound
baby girl at Nesbitt Hospital Tues-
day, November 16. This is their
first child. Mrs. MacAvoy is the
former Ethel Smith, daughter of
Mrs. Ethel Smith of Shavertown.
Cpl. MacAvoy is son of Mrs. Paul
Daily, Shavertown. He is stationed
at Fort Jay, Governor's Island.
Leave For Mexico
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ferrell and
daughters, Sandra and Audrey of
East Dallas, left Monday for Sala-
manch, near New Mexico, Mexico.
Mr. Ferrell is a_field specialist for
the Worthington Pump Company.
He expects to install equipment for
the Petroleos Mexicanos and will
stay in Mexico for six months.

At Trucksville Church
Plans are moving along nicely
for the Bazaar and Cafeteria supper
to be held Friday, December 3 at
Trucksville Methodist Church. The
Bazaar will open at 3.

and Mrs. William Glace.

will be in charge of Mrs. S. D.

Mrs. J. B. Schooley will be in
charge of the cafeteria supper start-
ing at 5:30.
Rebecca Gabel Engaged
To Verne A. Stueber
Announcement has been made of
the engagement of Rebecca Eleanor
Gabel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Frederick C. Gable of Chase to
Verne Anthony Stueber, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank J. Stueber of North
Fond, Wisconsin.
Miss Gabel is a graduate of Sac-
red Heart School, Luzerne, St. Ann's
Academy and St. Francis Hospital
School of Nursing. She is a nurse
with the American Arabian Oil
Company in Saudi, Arabia.
Mr. Stueber was graduated from
University of Wisconsin with a
bachelor of science degree in chemi-
cal engineering. He is on military
leave from the American Arabian
Oil Company and is serving with
the Army Engineering Corps.

nue, and daughter, Marjorie of
Philadelphia, have returned from
California where they visited the
former's niece and husband, Mr. and

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fiske, Sr.
Kingston, celebrated their sixtieth
wedding anniversary on Saturday.

of Sweet Valley, mother of Sterling

Ann and Jackie, Elmcrest, will
spend Thanksgiving at State Col-
lege as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Straley and Jack and Billie.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Herman,
former Elmcrest residents, have
sold their home and are living tem=
porarily at Harveys Lake. They ex-
pect to leave shortly to make their
home in California.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymon Hedden,

Ithaca, N. Y., where they witnessed
the Dartmouth Cornell football
game.

returned from Warren where they
spent several days visiting with

John IL. Hauser who has been
working in Washington, D. C., is
spending ten days with his mother,
Mrs. Ruth Houser, Spring Street,
Shavertown, before reporting to
Fort Dix for service with the U. S.
Army. Over Thanksgiving Mrs.
Hauser will have as guest her
daughter, Janice who is training at
the Bayonne, N. J., Hospital, and
another daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. W. Johnson, of Kings-
ton.
Dr. and Mrs. Preston J. Sturde-
vant, Huntsville, will have as
Thanksgiving weekend guests Dr.
and Mrs. Preston J. Sturdevant, Jr.,
and daughter Lindy, from Worces-
ter, Mass.
John Hudak sailed from Korea
last Thursday, returning after a
year and a half of service in the
army by way of Seattle. He hopes
to be home for Thanksgiving.

Williams, son of Mrs. and the late
Lyman Williams of Harveys Lake in

Ann’s Academy, Wilkes-Barre, and
College Misericordia. She has been
employed by the Acme Stores. Mr.
Makowski was graduated from
Swoyersville High School. He is em-
ployed. as sub manager of the Acme
Stores.
The couple will reside on Bennett
Street, Luzerne.

shinny and Wyoming Valley Hospit-
al School of Nursing. She has been
employed at Danville State Hos-
pital. Mr. James was graduated
from Garrison High School and at-
tended Penn State Extension
School. He is employed in the en-
gineering department of Susquehan-
na Coal Company at Glen Lyon.
The couple resides at 309 West
Second Street, Nescopeck.
Mrs. Elsie Wolfe has returned to
her home in Shavertown after
spending three weeks in New York
City visiting her granddaughter and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cool-

Home.” Twelve Thanksgiving bas-
kets for needy families were filled.

A “Favorite Cookie” party will be
the feature of the next meeting of
Lehman Fire Auxiliary November
29, when Lehman entertains the
Lake Silkworth Auxiliary. Mrs. John
Roberts is chairman of Ways and
Means. Members are asked to bake
up a batch of their favorite cookies
and bring them along with the re-
cipe. Samples and recipes will be
offered for sale. Beginning Novem-
ber 27, there will be monthly cov-
ered dish suppers for members and
families.

a gala cocktail party-dinner dance
in the Hotel Sterling Saturday at 7.

Nine boys and girls, ranging in
age from four to twelve, enjoyed a
Biblical feltogram demonstration
given by Mrs. Arthur Kuschke at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Barnes, Elmcrest, from 4 p.m. until
5 p.m. on Monday. The demon-
stration which is nonsectarian is
part of the Child Evangelism move-
ment. ”
