Mrs. Lydia Crispell, Noxen, has
left for Endicott, N." Y., to spend
the winter with Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Wilson.
Mrs. Fred White, Noxen, is a pa-
tient at Nesbitt Hospital where she
is undergoing treatment.
Addie Elston who was injured in
an automobile accident near Hazle-
ton some weeks ago has been re-
moved from the Hazleton Hospital
to the Nesbitt. Miss Elston who
makes her home in Kingston is sis-
ter of Mrs. Jack Roberts and has a
good many friends in Dallas.
Mrs. Robert Trethaway and her
daughter, Mrs. William Jeter, West
Dallas, spent a few days this week
in Atlantic City.
Josephine Norton has closed her
Dallas home for the winter and gone
to Philadelphia to care for her
brother who is ill.
Carrie Caperoon, Gertrude Wilson
and Lillian Kuehn spent last Mon-
day in Waverly. On their way home
they stopped at Tunkhannock for a
visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jud Hauck,
former Dallas residents.
Donald Hinkle, student at Spring-
field College, spent the weekend
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Hinkle, Lincoln Drive, Shavertown.
Donnie is taking up physical edu-
cation.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith who have
been making their home with Bur-
gess H. A. Smith, Machell Avenue,
have moved to North Franklin
Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Mrs. D. L. Edwards, Deerfield
Farm, is able to be out again after
being a patient at General Hospital
for several days.

Have New Baby Girl
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Parrish,
Tunkhannock R. D. 5, announce the
birth of an eight pound,
ounce baby girl at General Hospital
November 8.
The Parrishes have twin sons,
William and Albert, three and a
half years old.
Mrs. Parrish is the former Elsie
Williams of Taylor. Mr. Parrish is
son of Albert Parrish of Dallas.

Marian Beth, in Chestnut Hill Hos-
pital, Philadelphia. Mrs. Roberts is
the former Joan Rittenhouse of

Herbert Butlers Are
Given Housewarming
Colonel and Mrs. Herbert H. But-
ler were caught by surprise Monday
night when friends gave them an
impromptu housewarming at their
new home on Machell Avenue. The
Butlers, relaxing after ten strenu-
ous days of getting settled in the
home formerly occupied by Mr. and
Mrs. Norwood Brader, proved to be
gracious hosts in spite of their as-
tonishment. They received many
lovely gifts. Guests brought two
lavishly decorated cakes in addition
to substantials.

Lewis Ides Celebrate
Silver Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Igey Lehman,
celebrated their twentyhifth wed-
ding anniversary Monday, Novem-
ber 8.
Mrs. Ide is the former Emma
Steele, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Steele of Sweet Valley R. D.
Mr. Ide is son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Ellis Ide of Lehman.
The couple was married in the
Pike's Creek Methodist Church by
the Rev. Robert Cornell. There is
one child, Alice, a member of the
Senior Class at Lehman-Jackson-
Ross High School.
Mr. Ide is secretary of the
Lehman-Jackson-Ross School Dis-
trict and is also affiliated with the
Wilkes-Barre Transit Company.
Cpl. Clayton L. Traver
To Celebrate Birthday
Cpl. Clayton L. Traver, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas J. Traver of Rug-
gles, will celebrate his twenty-
second birthday anniversary in
Hummelburg, Germany, tomorrow.
Clayton has been overseas with the
322nd Tank Battalion for the past
sixteen months. He expects to be
discharged February 12, 1955.
He is a graduate of Lake Noxen
High School in the class of 1950.

In a pretty candlelight ceremony,
Miss Joy Lou Steele, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Basil Steele, of
Sweet Valley, became the bride of
A -2C. Duane Wickard, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Wickard, of Oma-
ha, Nebraska, in the Maple Grove
Methodist Church, Pikes Creek on
Friday evening, October 29, at 7
o'clock.
The Rev. Albert Hilliard officiated
at the double ring ceremony. Tra-
ditional wedding music was furn-
ished by Betty Anstett who presided
at the console of the organ.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was lovely in a white
brocade faille empress style waltz
length gown. She wore a white
feather half-hat with a tiny weil
and carried a colonial bouquet of
white carnations with shower rib-
bons.
The maid of honor, Miss Alice
Ide, of Lehman, wore a blue faille
princess style waltz dress with a
white feather hat and carried a
colonial bouquet of pink carnations.
The groom chose as his best man
A-2C Jack Cheatham. A-3C Ruben
Castillo and A-2C John C. Van-
Buren were the ushers.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs.
Steele wore a blue knitted suit with
pink and navy accessories. The
mother of the groom chose a gray
dress with winter white accessories.
Both wore pink carnation corsages.
The grandmother of the bride,
Mrs. John Steele, chose navy with
navy accessories and the grand-
mother of the groom, Mrs. Lulu
Thompson, of Nebraska, was attired
in navy with gray accessories. Both
wore pink corsages.
The bride is a graduate of Leh-
man-Jackson High School in the
class of 1954 and is associated with
her parents in the restaurant busi-
ness. Her husband is serving with
the U. S. Air Force at the Benton
Air Force Station, Red Rock.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion for about fifty guests was held
at the home of the bride.
For the present the couple will
reside with the parents of the bride.
At a very pretty wedding, Marian
G. Parsons, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Parsons of Kunkle, be-
came the bride of William G. Eckert
Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William
Eckert Sr. of Lake Catalpa in Kunk-
le Methodist Church Saturday at
2:30 p.m. Rev. Ruth Underwood
performed the double ring cere-
mony before an altar banked with
white chrysanthemums and palms.
Mrs. Fred Dodson played the wed-
ding music.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore white crystalline
over satin gown made with tight
bodice and full skirt, peter pan col-
lar and dolman sleeves. Her should-
er length veil fell from a coronet
of pearls and she carried white
roses and pompons.
Sue Parsons was her sister’s maid
of honor. She selected iridescent
pink crystalline gown styled along
Mrs. Addie Mathers Is
Ninety-Five Years Old
Mrs. Addie O. Mathers, nine-five
years old yesterday, has been cele-
brating her birthday all week. On
Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Mathers
from Easton, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Mathers from Haddon Heights, N. J.
spent the afternoon, joining the
third son Frank, with whom she
makes her home in Trucksville, in
doing honor to a phenomenally ac-
tive parent.
Tuesday evening, members of the
Missionary Society from Trucksville
Free Methodist Church, dropped in
for a surprise party, bringing gifts
and flowers. Among the group were
Rev. and Mrs. Dana Dimmick, Mr.
and Mrs. Francis Smith, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Mathers, Mesdames Lena
Carey, Mathilda Galey, Grace Olver,
Jennie Sweezy, Ruth Scott, Bruce
Atkinson, Gertrude Lindsly, Alice

Mrs. Parsons, mother of the bride,

Following the ceremony a recep-
tion was held in the Kunkle Com-
munity Hall and the couple left for
the New England States.
Mrs. Eckert is a graduate of Dal-
las Township High School and has
been doing private duty at Nesbitt
Hospital. Mr. Eckert was also
graduated from Dallas Township
High School and is employed by the
Fairless Steel Company in Morris-
ville. The couple will reside in
Trenton, N. J.
Lake Civic Club
Installs Members
Seventeen members were intro-
duced to the Harveys Lake Wo-
man’s Civic Club at Thursday
night’s dinner meeting at Beaumont
Inn, fourteen entirely new, and
three reinstated after absence. Mrs.
Carrie Rood conducted installation.

ously adopted. Mrs. Malcolm Nel-
son, in reporting that the recent
blackout was a success in the area,
asked for volunteers to help man
the Civil Defense Post.

At Farewell Dinner
Members of Dallas Franklin
Township faculty entertained at a
farewell turkey dinner at the High
School last Wednesday evening
honoring William Prater who will
leave for service with the U. S.
Army shortly. Mr. Prater, who has
been teaching in the Township for
three years, was presented with a
military toilet kit and a wallet.

tober 16, at 2 in Dallas Methodist

The 'double-ring ceremony was
performed by Rev. Floyd Crispell,
uncle of the bride, assisted by Rev.
William Heapps, pastor of the
church. Mrs. Ruth Turn Reynolds
was organist.
Mrs. Melvin Compton of Levit-
town, Pa., was her sister’s matron
of honor. Miss Marion Lewis, sister
of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid
and Harriet Crispell, sister of the
bride, junior bridesmaid.
Richard Miller, Wilkes-Barre was
best man for Mr. Lewis, whose
ushers were Theodore Thomas and
Donald Schrey, both of Wilkes-
Barre.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a waltz-length
gown of white lace over satin. The
bodice was styled with a sweet-
heart neckline and long sleeves
which formed a point over the
wrists. The lace skirt featured in-
serts of satin in front. Her finger-
tip veil of illusion was arranged
from a crown of pearls and she
carried an arm bouquet of white

Matron of honor was attired in
a white nylon chiffon gown with
a blue stole. The skirt featured
blue panels in back. She wore a
blue nylon headband and carried
an arm bouquet of bronze chrysan-
themums tied with blue streamers.
The bridesmaid was attired simi-
larly to the matron of honor in a
white nylon chiffon gown with a
shrimp stole and shrimp-colored
panels on the skirt back. She wore
a shrimp nylon headpiece and car-
ried an arm bouquet of yellow
chrysanthemums with shrimp-color-
ted streamers. The junior brides-
maid wore white net over yellow
taffeta and a headdress of yellow
net. She carried orchid pompons
tied with yellow streamers.
Mother of the bride wore a teal-
gray dress with navy accessories
and a corsage of yellow and white
pompons. Mother of the bride-
groom selected a Dior blue dress
with coral accessories. Her corsage
was of white pompons. :
A reception was held at the Car-
verton Grange Hall, after which the
couple went to New York and Can-
ada. For going away, the bride
wore a dark green suit with beige
accessories and a corsage of bronze
chrysanthemums. Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis are residing in Harrisburg.
Silver Leaf Club
A paper demcnstration will be
the main attraction at Tuesday eve-
ning’s meeting of the Silver Leaf
Club in Kunkle Fire Hall. Mrs. Vir-
gie Elston, Mrs. Arline Updyke, and
Mrs. Lena Martin are hostesses.
