Blood donations have fallen off during the summer. Traffic acci- dents are at their peak, with con- sequent need for blood for plasma and transfusions. Requirements of 467 pints during July in the Wyoming Valley area were not balanced by donations, which total- led only 400 pints. Delay caused by not having blood on hand when an injured man needs it, may result in his death. The Red Cross calls attention to the ease of donation. Blood is never taken from a person who can- not spare it. It takes approximate- ly an hour from start to finish. Blood is regenerated in a matter of a few days, and anybody can spare a pint. It is the easiest and most painless way of saving a life, and as vital as pulling a pedestrian from the path of an approaching car. Summer visitors at the Lake are welcome to donate along with year- round residents. Transportation to and from the Bloodmobile may be arranged by calling the Fire House or headquarters in Wilkes-Barre, Valley 3-7161. The Bloodmobile will be at Church of Christ, Sweet Valley on August 16 from 1:45 to 5:45.
