T. M. B. Hicks, New York City,
spent the weekend at his home on

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pasternak
and family have moved from
Wilkes-Barre to a new home at
Oak Hill, Mr. Pasternak is connect-
ed with Stegmaier Brewing Com-
pany.

Road, is spending the week at Camp

Mr. and Mrs. William Donachie,
Church Street, Dallas, have pur-
chased the McCarthy home on Leh-
man Avenue. They will move in
after they remodel.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor McCarty,
formerly of Pioneer Avenue, have
purchased and moved into a home
at 54 Franklin Street, Shavertown.
Both Mr. and Mrs. McCarty are em-
ployed at Natona Mills.
Mary Reedy and Elizabeth Setsee,
Atlanta, Ga., who are spending the
summer with the former’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Reedy, Center
Hill Road, will go to Rochester,
N. Y., this weekend to visit Mary's
brother and family, Mr. and Mrs.
William Reedy.
Mr. and Mrs. August Stella,
formerly of Wilkes-Barre, have tak-
en up residence at 128 Pioneer Ave-
nue, Shavertown. Mr. Stella works
for Dodson and Hudak.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Amos, De-
munds Road, will move next week
to a newly constructed home near
the John Hewitt farm at Idetown.
Allen Sanford, who has been a
patient at the Veterans’ Hospital,
returned to his home on Pioneer
Avenue. He is somewhat improved.
Mrs. Paul Warriner returned to
“her home in Staunton, Va, after
spending several weeks with her
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Morgan, of Shaver-
town. She came here to see her
new grand daughter, Suzette. 1

Lake, entertained members of her
bridge club Thursday evening. Mrs.
Paul Warriner, a former member,
was guest.
L. P. Taylor, Atlanta, Ga., arrived
by plane Monday morning to spend
several days with his mother-in-
law, Mrs. Fred Gordon, Norton
Avenue. Mrs. Taylor who has been
with her mother for several weeks,
will drive back with him.

Wilmington, Del, spent the week-
end visiting their parents, Mr. and

turned to their home in New Jersey
after visiting their father, James L.
Hefft of Carverton. Mrs. Hazel
Rausch, another daughter, and Rich-
ard Hefft also visited their father.
They came here to attend the Hefft
reunion on July 4.
Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Marino and
Donna spent the Fourth of July
weekend with Mrs. Marino's mother,
Mrs. Z. R. Howell of Shavertown.
Mr. Marino flew to Chicago, 1ll., to
attend a convention and returned
Saturday to drive the family home
to Mineola, L. I. Mrs. Marino and
Mrs. Howell spent last Thursday at
Lake. Carey visiting the latter's

Mrs. Emma Ide has returned to
her home after spending a few days
with Mrs. Anna Ide and family at
Tunkhannock.
Mrs. Robert Ide spent last week
with her daughter and son-in-law,

heads, N. Y. '
Mrs. William Carrol of Dallas en-
tertained last Wednesday Mrs. A. D.

ing at home following an operation

turned from Atlantic City, where
Nelson appeared on the Steel Pier.

their daughter, Betty, to Edwin
Britt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
Britt, Sweet Valley.
Rev. Albert Hillard performed
the ceremony at Maple Grove
Church in Pike's Creek, Saturday
afternoon at 2 p.m.
Attendants were Shirley Ferry,
sister of the bride, and Harold
Britt, brother of the bridegroom.
The bride wore white eyelet
dress with pink accessories. Her
shoulder, bouquet was of pink roses
centered with white gardenias. Miss
Ferry’s dress was of pink organdy.
Her accessories were white and her
shoulder bouquet of pink and white
carnations.
A reception for a few friends and
members of the immediate families
was held at the home of the bride-
groom Saturday evening.

birth of a baby boy at Nesbitt Hos-
pital, July 15.
Mrs. Stephen Monka and Chris-
tianne and Stephen Paul, Arling-
ton, Va. are spending several
months with Mrs. Monka’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shaver while
Stephen Sr., goes to school.

ing a vacation in Ocean City.

Portsmouth, Ohio, were weekend
guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry T. Bogart, Shavertown. When
they left, they took with them ‘their
son Donald, 7, who has been spend-
ing a month with his grandparents.
Carol Jean Bogart, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry T. Bogart, Sha-
vertown, will combine business with
education next fall. She is employed
in the credit department of the
Boston Store, and will continue with
this work while studying Retail
Store Management at Wilkes.

nounced the birth of a son at Gen-
eral, Hospital July 12.

Honored On Birthday
Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd K. Myers of
Tunkhannock entertained Sunday,
honoring their grandson, Merl Cloyd
Bigelow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle

casion was the seventh birthday of
little ‘“Butchie.” The affair, an out-
side Bar-B-Q, held on the Myers
lawn.
Butchie had a beautiful two-tier
birthday cake inscribed “Happy
Birthday Butchie.”” He received

hunting trip to Hudson River sub-

Nancy Jane Jones is taking a cir-
cle tour of ‘the United States in
company with her aunt, Mrs. Will-
ard Engler, of Schenectady. From
temperatures of over 100 in Ari-
zona to a cool 56 degrees in Vic-
toria, the trip embraces a run up
the Pacific Coast, a stopover at
Grand Canyon and Yosemite, the
fifteen days ending in Chicagi July
31. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones,
Shavertown, will drive to Schenec-
tady July 31 to bring her home.

Washington, D. C., former residents
of Shavertown were here last week
en route to Ocean City, N. J., for

George Higginses Are
Guests On Birthdays
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Higgins,
Harveys Lake, entertained on Sun-
day at a covered dish dinner hon-
oring Mr. and Mrs. George Higgins
of Idetown who both celebrate their
eighty-first birthday anniverseries
this month. The Higgins have eight
living children, fifteen grandchil-
dren and two great grandchildren.

Visits Son In Texas
Mrs. Frank Harvey of Woodlawn
Avenue has just returned from a
flying trip to Bryan, Texas, where
she visited her son and daughter-
-in-law, Master Sgt. and Mrs.
Wayne I. Harvey and grandson,
Judy.
While there she spent a day in
San Antonio visiting the zoo and
the sunken gardens in Brecken-
ridge Park, also the most historic
site in Texas, the Alamo. She spent
an afternoon at Bryan Air Force
Base where her son is stationed
and saw the take-off and landing
of jet aircraft.
Although the temperature soared
between 105 and 110, Mrs. Harvey
didn’t mind the heat, but she did
acquire a beautiful sunburn while
visiting Galveston Beach.
Frear-Parrish Reunion
The annual Frear-Parrish Re-
union will be held at Orcutt’s
Grove, Noxen, on Saturday, August
7. All relatives and friends are in-
vited to atend.

Holds First Reunion
Kingston Township High School,
Class 1942, held its first reunion
July 3 with a dinner at the Castle.
Philip Cease was master of cere-
monies.
The program opened with the in-
vocation by Catherine Gilbert of
Maine, N. Y., who remembered two
members of the class now dead,
Shirley Jones and Raymond Love-
land. Vice president of the class,
Joseph Gallagher welcomed
group.
Group singing was led by Wilma
Hunt Carroll with Marion Gregory
at the piano.
Gifts were presented to the fol-

Catherine Brace Newhart; most re-

Clark Summit, in the rectory of Our
Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Father
C. J. Sikorski performed the double
ring ceremony.
Attendants were Joan Barchik of
Cambra and Earl Roman, uncle of
the bride of Sweet Valley.
The bride wore ballerina length
gown of lace and nylon tulle over-
taffeta fashioned with Queen Ann
collar, tight bodice with tiny but-
tons to the waist, short sleeves and
full skirt. Her scalloped finger-tip
veil of French illusion fell from a
pleated tulle half hat and she car-
ried a white Prayer Book marked
with an orchid.
Miss Barchik chose gown styled
like that of the bride in powder
blue and matching coronet dotted
with sequins. She carried yellow
carnations.
Mrs. Maransky, mother of the
bride, Mrs. Marshalek, mother of
the bridegroom and Mrs. Thomas
Roman, grandmother of the bride,
all selected navy and white print
dresses and shoulder bouquets of
red carnations.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion was held at the home of the
bride, and the couple left for Elling-
ton Field, Pasadena, Texas, where
the bridegroom is stationed.
Mrs. Marshalek was graduated
from Huntington Township High
School in June. Lt. Marshalek was
graduated from Newton Ransom
High School at Clark Summit and
from U. S. Air Force Jet Pilot
School at Greenville, Miss, on
Thursday. :

[Carol Kern is spending her va-
cation with her mother, Mrs. Ed-
win Kern after completing her first
year as a student nurse at the Dela-
ware Hospital, Wilmington, Del.
