{4 First Calf Heifers
Average 10,691 Lbs.
Milk
A recent report from
the Purina Farm in-
terested us. Four-
teen grade Holstein
heifers freshened
during the year at
an average of 24
months.
Their aver-
age = weight
was 1244 lbs.
In lactations of 10 months aver-
age production from the 14 was
10,691 lbs.
We believe every dairyman in
this area could equal that record,
yet most of them miss on two
counts. Average age of freshen-
ing in this area is 28-32 months,
and production averages 2000-
2500 lbs. less.
One way to correct this is by
the care given heifers on pasture
this summer. Even while on good
pasture, it pays to feed heifers
some good hay. A feeding of
D&F Chow once a day costs
mighty little in comparison with
the extra growth for earlier
calving and increased milk it
promotes. Won't you come in
and talk over this important
heifer-growing program with us?
Flies Needn’t Be A
Bother Anymore
Seems like flies get smarter
every year, and build up resis-
tance to more new chemical
killers.
But Purina Research workers
than
they've got programs that really
do kill.
Building Spray that you use in
are smarter flies, and
First there’s Purina
dairy barns, poultry houses and
other buildings where flies are
troublesome.
Then there is a new spray for
It both kills and repels
after you spray.
COWS.
For use inside the house
Purina Household Spray is tops
for killing flies, mosquitos,
moths, silver fish, roaches and
many other pests.
Then there’s a special beef
cattle spray, too.
We'll be glad to explain details
of this fly control program to
you.
HAROLD MAYE, who lives on
the Lehman-Outlet Road,
stopped in the other day to
pick up his Purina Chick
Growena. He told us his
young New Hampshire Red
Pullets were growing just fine.
We are looking forward to a
visit from you. If there is any
way we can help with your live-
stock or poultry feeding or
management problems, remem-
ber we are here to serve you.
