Plans for the Kiwanis Club chicken barbecue, scheduled for July 10, beginning at 5 p. m., are rapidly, according to Howard Risley and William Wright. Of the original 300 chickens being raised for broiler halves under Mrs. Sheldon Mosier’s wing, only five have died. The barbecue platter will hold a half chicken, salad, potato chips, rolls, coffee and cake. The barbecue takes the place of the customary kick-off dinner George and Kenny Rice will kill and dress the chickens, members of the Kiwanis Club officiate at the grills. Mrs. Dan Robinhold, reporting for the refreshment committee, said that workers were being lined up and procedure would follow last year’s plan. Mrs. John Girvan will make signs. Dave Schooley will arrange for cabinets through the Woodlawn Company. Dixie cups will be sub- stituted for bulk ice-cream. Mrs. S. M. Silverman reported that senior Girl Scouts will help in the picture frame booth. Mrs. Mitchell Jenkins reported on general solicitation. Most of the chairmen for various areas have al- ready been lined up, and many workers. Mrs. Fred Howell reported thirty- seven members on the Antique com- mittee. Four half-back chairs are being decorated by Mrs. Paul Gross, two by Mrs. Dwight Fisher.
