William Wright, chairman of the drive, said that less than’ half the homes in Township and Borough have been contacted, but that a concerted attempt will be made during the next two weeks to find everybody at home and in- sure a hundred percent return. The drive, he said at a membership meeting in Back Mountain Memo- rial Library Annex Sunday after- noon, has gathered momentum dur- ing the past week and the outlook is encouraging. As Mr. Wright expressed it, the community has been “driven” to death, with one fund raising proj- ect on top of another, and the Red Cross rollcall still going on. Many householders have not given ac- cording to their ability to contrib- ute, ‘whereas many families in straightened circumstances have given money they could ill spare. So far the amount has not reached the $4,000 mark, though expected receipts will bring it to that figure by the end of the week. Paul Hoover and Leland Wentzel, both of Lehman, were present upon community ambulance, which they said was entirely satisfactory in spite of its modest purchase price. Dallas Ambulance Association hopes to purchase a new model, but there is a number of good buys in used ambulances on the market, one of which was on display in the Library parking lot, a 1948 Buick priced at $2,600. The membership voted to request the Dallas Post to publish a list of donors, but without stating amounts. Mrs. Arthur Newman and Mrs. Mar- garet Roberts both asked that cer- tain names of donors whom they had solicited, be omitted from the list." * Norti Berti, president, in the ab- sence of Atty. Robert Fleming, re- ported that the charter, drawn up for a non-profit organization, would be ready shortly, preliminary re- quirements having been satisfied. Mr. Berti passed around copies of the by-laws for inspection. Mr. Berti appointed Robert Laux to head an auditing committee of Rev. William McClelland and Rob- ert Brown, to report on thé drive at the May 2 meeting. The appended list of donors is as complete as it can be at the pres- ent time. If names have been tified unless donors wish to remain anonymous. Additions will be pub- lished after the April 15th deadline. Donors will understand that post- cards to each individual as an ex- pression of thanks, would use funds Deadline April 15 needed for vital equipment.
