Wm. FE. Sliker
Dies Suddenly
Widow Collapses
Goes To Hospital
William F. Sliker, Machell Ave-
nue, was buried in Vestal Hill Me-
morial Cemetery last Friday,
following services in Johnson City.
He died last Monday morning of a
heart attack, an hour after admis-
sion to Nesbitt Memorial Hospital.
Dr. A. A. Mascali, summoned at 7
a.m., called Kingston Township am-
- bulance, which conveyed him to the
hospital.
Mr. Sliker, 67, had lived with his
daughter, Mrs. Helen L. Smith, for
the past three years, since retire-
ment from employment with the
International Business Machine Co.
at Endicott.
Mrs. Sliker, overcome by her hus-
band’s sudden death, collapsed and
was rushed to Nesbitt Hospital
Mrs. Sliker is improving under a
regime of complete rest.
Mr. Sliker was born at Pocono
Lake, resided in Ricketts, Renovo,
and for seventeen years in Johnson
City.
He is survived by his father,
Charles ‘W. Sliker, Sinnemahoning;
his widow, the former Leila Barn-
hart of Ricketts; eight children: Fay
E., William H., and Mrs. Robert S.
Minckler, Johnson City; C. Alton,
Bruce, and Mrs. Theodore W. Pier,
son, Vestal; Charles W., Endwell,
N. Y. and Mrs. Smith, Dallas; thir-
teen grandchildren; a brother,
George, of Cameron, and two sis-
ters, Mrs. Bruce Eisenhower, Culver,
and Mrs. Arthur Heller, Strouds-
burg. :
Sweet Valley
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foss cele-
brate their fifty-first wedding an-
niversary on Friday. They were
married by Rev. John Phillips, Bap-
tist minister at Binghamton. They
have two daughters, Mrs. Francis
Eustice, Kingston, and Mrs. Willard
Sutliff, Bloomingdale and Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. William Pearce and
son, James Wesley, Mr. and Mrs.
Stephen Rogers and daughter Mar-
garet, of Nanticoke, were enter-
tained at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Wesley Freeman last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Hartman
and grandson Roy had Sunday din-
ner at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Rood.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Applegate
‘and Judy, of Sugar Loaf; Mr. and
Mrs. William Bradbury of Luzerne,
were Sunday callers at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Alva Case.
. Mrs. Delbert Meade was taken to
General Hospital Friday night in
: Bronson’s ambulance.
Mrs. Freda Baer spent Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Long.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Martz, Shaver-
town, and Mr. and Mrs. John Aus-
tin, Oakdale, were Sunday guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sheldon.
Mr. and Mrs. William Cryder and
‘family, Berwick; and Philip Culver
of Carverton, were Sunday callers
at the home of Albert Holcomb.
Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Long and
Cindy called on Mr. and Mrs. Jo-
seph Gosvinske, Nanticoke, Monday
evening.

Mrs. Charles Hilbert has returned
to her home after spending a few
weeks with the Frank Bittenbend-
ers at Newark, N. J.
Jane Garey had the misfortune
of skidding on the ice Saturday and
damaging her mother’s car when
she struck a pole.
The Lend-A-Hand Club will have
its monthly meeting at the IOOF
Hall Thursday when a “Pot Luck
Lunch” and a “White Elephant
Sale” will highlight the Valentine
party.
The ninth and tenth grades en-
joyed a roller skating party at
Wolfe's Grove Friday night.
Mrs. Madeline Jackson Depkin
would appreciate receiving cards at
the New England Baptist Hospital,
91 Parker Ave., Boston 20, Mass.,
where she remains as surgical pa-
tient with another operation pend-
ing.
The regular monthly meeting of
the PTA will be held at the high
school Monday when the Dairy
Council will send representatives to
be guest speakers and to show a
movie. Warren Johnson will pre-
side at the business meeting.
The high school basketball team
will play at Falls-Overfield tonight.
Mrs. Carolyn Scovell was guest
of honor at a family dinner to cele-
brate her birthday anniversary on
Tuesday.
Mrs. Warren Johnson was pleas-
antly surprised by her brothers and
sisters who came up from Wilkes-
Barre to help her celebrate her
birthday Sunday.
