was crowned Queen of the May.
Barbara was elected by popular vote
of the senior high school, her iden-
tity jealously guarded until the mo-
ment before formation of the pro-
cession and beginning of the annual
pageant. Barbara is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Balut, Pi-

Giants To Have
Training School
The New York Giants will hold
a baseball school and tryout camp
at Artillery Park—ithe home of the
Wilkes-Barre Barons—on June 15,
16, and 17. Any youngsters between
the ages of 17 to 25 are eligible
to attend.
The tryout camp will be under
the director of #New York Giants
scouts—Nick Shinkoff and Frank
(Skeeter) iScalzi.: Shinkoff is in
charge of the Giants scouting sys-
tem for the Eastern seaboard.
Scalzi formerly played in the major
leagues with the Giants and has
managed for a number of years in
the minors. He was headman at
Sunbury and Richmond, Va. among
other clubs. _
