A capacity audience attended the
observance of the completion of the
Revised Standard Version of the
Holy Bible held Tuesday night in
Shavertown Methodist ‘Church by
Protestant Churches of the Back
Mountain area.
«Dr, Evald B. Lawson, president
of Upsala College, East Orange,
N. J., spoke on “The Word of Life
in Living Language.” He reviewed
the history of the Bible, emphasiz-
ing the fact that the revision was
historical in that it was the first
time in 340 years that a translation
of the Bible had been universally
recognized.
The service was in charge of
Rev. Robert DeWitt Yost, pastor
of the host church, assisted by
pastors of the visiting churches:
Rev. Robert T, Webster, Trucks-
ville Methodist; Rev. Frederic Eidam,
St. Paul's Lutheran; Rev. Charles
Frick, Huntsville Christian; Rev.
William Heapps, Dallas Methodist;
John F. ‘Sheehan, lay leader for
Prince of Peace Episcopal.
Music was provided by a choir
composed of members of the choirs
of the united churches with Mrs.
Robert Wright, organist for the host
church, at the organ.
Robert Lewis of Trucksville Meth-
odist (Church, chairman of the ser-
