0 Ll a: Open House Held At Joint School Lake-Noxen Parents See Classroom Exhibits The annual Open House Pro- grams, in conjunction with PTA meetings, were held at Lake-Noxen Joint School last Wednesday night and at the Noxen School on Thursday night when new officers were installed and parents visited individual class rooms and saw their children’s work exhibited. James Worth will be the new president at the joint school as- sisted by the following: first vice president and program chairman, Alan G. Kistler; second vice presi- dent and hospitality chairmen, Mrs. Grace Martin and Mrs. Letha Byrne; recording secretary, Mrs. Carlton Kocher; corresponding se- cretary, James Garey; treasurer, Robert Belles. Of particular interest at the joint school was the Industrial Arts exhibit set up in the gym and that of the Homemaking Depart- ment. A fluteband, directed by Miss Louise [Schlick, was featured at Noxen. Parents enjoyed the first grade room, recently decorated by student volunteers, and the health room, set up by teachers and par- ents who donated money and time to take care of ‘decorating and plumbing. Birthday In Japan For Corporal Simms Cpl. William M. Simms, son of Mr. and Mrs. ‘A. B. Simms of Leh- man is celebrating his 23rd birthday next Wednesday fin Camp Young- ham, Honshu, Japan, where he is stationed with the 24th Infantry Division. Simms entered the army in Feb- ruary, 1951, receiving basic training at Fort Dix, N. J. and advanced training in anti-aircraft artillery at Fort Bliss, Texas. He served in Korea from July, 1951, to February, 1952.
