St. Paul's narrowedly edged Shavertown Methodist to garner the consolation game. These games, which marked the end of a 15- game regular season and a two- game playoff, took place before an appreciative crowd at the West- moreland gym. The league thus completed its first year under the presidency of Tug Wyant and closed out a very smoothly run and suc- cessful season. Plans are under way for a banquet to be held for all league participants in the near future. The outcome was never in doubt as St. Therese’s jumped into an early lead which was boosted to 15-4 at the end of the first quar- ter. The usually deadshot Hunts- ville team could not even buy a basket. Carl Sherinski, St. Therese’s stellar standout, connected for 30 points to outscore by himself the combined ' efforts of ithe entire Huntsville team. Bill Hart, Neil Kocher, Frank Stolarick and Ned McGarry hit in spurts to back up Sherinski’s work and clinch the victory. Hank Uuban and Charlie Brobst were high men in the los- ing cause as Huntsville, the num- ber one team in the loop, ran up against its nemesis. St. Paul's with Art Kitchen, Ralph Anthony and Dave Evans showing the way took a big lead over Shavertown Methodist and held it for three quarters. However in the final stanza Stan Davis caught fire. With Davis, assisted by Jack Porter and Russ Hons, Sha- vertown made a last minute spurt which gave the leaders a scare but which lacked 5 points from gain- | ing a victory.
