Durelle Scott who has been ill at
this home on Huntsville road for
several weeks was able to return
to his office on Monday.
Mrs. Elizabeth McEvoy, 'Shaver-
town, recently a patient at Mercy
Hospital, is recuperating at the
home of her daughter, Mrs, James
Scanlon, 30 Lee Park Avenue,
Wilkes-Barre.
Mrs. Jane Engler of (Schenectady,
N. Y., will spend Christmas with
her parents, Mr. and Mns. John
iCortright of Shavertown.
Miss Virginia Ferry, teacher at
Rehobeth, Del.,, will arrive [Decem-
ber 21 and Miss Patricia Ferry,
teacher at Kutztown, December 23
to spend the holidays with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ferry,
, Machell avenue,
Dennis Ferry who is stationed at
Salsburg, Austria, has been pro-
moted to corporal.
Mr. and Mrs. William Lamb,
Lawn Acres, will spend [Christmas
with the former's mother, Mrs.
Charles Lamb at (Shamokin.
Charles Dewees, Shrineview, is a
patient at Nesbitt Hospital where
he is recovering from a heart at-
tack.
Mrs. Sam ‘Spencer is a patient at
Nesbitt Hospital] where she sub-
mitted to an operation,
Mrs, Blanche Anderson and Helen
~ Anderson are spending the winter
with the former's daughter, Mrs.
Edna McCarty on Lehman avenue.
They spent the weekend with ‘their
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Anderson and family of
Baltimore, Md.
Mr. and Mrs. Hanford L. Eckman
of Long Island spent the weekend
with the former's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. ‘A. Hanford Eckman of Hunts-
ville.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCarty and
family of Hatboro spent last week-
end visiting Mr. McCarty’s mother,
Mrs. Edna McCarty of Lehman ave-
nue, Edna will spend the Christmas
‘weekend with them and her daugh-
ter and son Gn law, Mr. and Mrs.
Edwin Ide.
Priscilla ‘Cooper and (Claire Grie-
sing, students at Philadelphia Mu-
seum School of Art will arrive this
weekend to spend the Christmas
vacation with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs, (Clyde Cooper of Pioneer ave-
nue and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Grie-
sing of Franklin street.
Mrs. James Ritchie has returned
to her home in Dailas after spend-
ing several weeks in Binghamton,
N. Y. with her daughter and son-
in-law. The Lauderbachs recently
bought a new home and she was
helping them remodel it.
Mrs. H., H. Zeiser, Huntsville road
and Mrs. W. J. Smith, Mill street,
will leave on Wednesday for Day-
tona Beach, Fla.
Sgt. James N. Warkomski, Davis
Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson,
Ariz., will arrive this weekend to
spend a furlough with his parents,
Dr, and Mrs. Joseph Warkomski at
Harveys Lake, He hag been in the
service since May.
Cpl. Herbert Dreher returned last
Thursday ‘to [Offutt (Air Base,
Omaha, Neb., after spending ‘two
weeks with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Max Dreher, Park street. Max
Jr., who is employed at Corning, ! :
N. Y., spent several days the fore-
part of the week with his parents.
Palmer Updyke, Kunkle, left this
week to spend sometime in Phila-
delphia with his son.
Mrs. George Weintz is ill at her
home at Meeker,
Mrs. W. F. Newberry has been ill
at her home on Pioneer avenue this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ned Mulligan have
purchased and moved into -the C.

phia will spend Christmas with her
son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and

Route, will have as Christmas
guests her children, Mr. and Mrs.
Bue] Kester and Cheryl Lynn and
Mr. and Mrs, Paul Mahler and Bon-
nie Lee of Dallas,
Mr. and Mrs, Harold (Croom of
Trucksville have announced the
birth of a daughter, Linda [Lou at
the Nesbitt Hospital] December 2.
Leroy Morris has returned to his
home in Trucksville after being a
patient at General Hospital for two
weeks. He is able to be back at
work.
Lewis Hughes of Trucksville is a
patient at Nesbitt Hospital.
Earl Henwood Jr. returned to his
home on Main road, Trucksville,
Saturday after being a patient at
Nesbitt Hospital.
Dr, John Doane is recuperating
at his home on !S. Franklin street,
Wilkes-Barre, after being a patient
‘at General Hospital.
Murs. Elwood Hudson has returned
to her home on Davis street after
submitting to an operation at (Nes-
bitt Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nodder,
Tuckahoe, N. Y. were weekend
guests of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Fer-
guson, Lawn Avenue, Shavertown.
Betsy Reynolds, daughter of Mrs.
Ruth Turn Reynolds, will be home
from Pennsylvania State College on
Wednesday for the holidays. After
the first of the year Betsy will do
practice teaching in York, She is
a senior, majoring in elementary
education, and hopes to make a
connection where her musical back-
ground will be of value after gra-
duation.
Miss Bettie Myers of Evans Falls
and sister, Mrs. Norma Bigelow
were lucky enough to get a buck
the first day of deer season.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Davis of
Edwardsville were visitors of the
latter’s sister, Mrs. Cloyd Myers of
Evans Falls recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Ide and Mr.
and Mrs. Asa Day are on a hunting
trip to Valdosta, Ga. From there
the Ides expect to go to New Or-
leans before returning to Hunts-
ville.
Mr. and Mrs. Merl Bigelow and
son, Merl of Shavertown were Sun-
day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd
Myers, Evans Falls,
Gwen Weaver has been ill at
her home on Franklin street.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard K. Rein-
hardt, formerly of Orange, will
drive up from Hagerstown, Md., to
spend the holidays with their chil-
dren, Mr. and Mrs. eGorge Dymond.

Miss Alice Lorraine Kindred,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Kindred of Noxen became ‘the
bride of Derwin Patton, Jr., son of
Mr. and Mrs. Derwin Patton of Nox-
en, Friday evening, December 7th
at the Methodist parsonage at Har-
vey’s Lake. The impressive single
ring’ ceremony was used. The Rev.
Miss Alice Lorraine Kindred
Is Bride Of Derwin Patton Jr.
Ruth L. Underwood officiated.
The couple was attended by Miss
Shirley Kozak and Jack Patton.
Mrs, Derwin Patton, Sr. and Miss
Alyce Jane Patton were also mem-
bers of the wedding party.
Following a trip to Elmira, N. Y.,
Mr. and Mrs. Patton will make their
home in Noxen.
Miss Frances Lord, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Lord of Noxen
became the bride of Sgt. Frederick
J. Shook, son of Mr. G. A. Shook
of Noxen Sunday afternoon at
3 p.m. ’
Rev. Henry Kraft performed the
double ring ceremony in St. Luke's
Lutheran Church.
John Hackling presided at the
organ and Mrs. Paul Horlacher,
cousin of the bride, was soloist.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father wore Rose Art gown
fashioned along princess lines trim-
med with sprays of seed pearl
flowers. Her sheer nylon yolk was
outlined with pearls in a scalloped
effect and her long tight sleeves
were pointed at the wrist.
Her very full skirt ended in a
court train. Her double tier veil
of French silk illusion, Cathedral
length, fell from a bonnet of chan-
tilly lace and she carried a cascade
bouquet of white roses and pom-
pons.
Miss Roberta Lord, cousin of the
bride, was maid of honor. She
selected shrimp colored gown styled
with nylon net skirt over taffeta
and satin bodice with detachable
stole of net. She carried a Colonial
bouquet of yellow roses and white
pompons.
Miss Frances Lord Becomes
Bride Of Sgt. Frederick Shook
Bridesmaids were Anna Mae
Space, Verna Case and Evelyn Mer-
rick of Philadelphia. They wore
gowns identical to that of the
maid of honor in aqua marine and
“carried pink roses and white pom-
pons.
The flower girl, Janice Mansfield,
niece of the bridegroom wore baby
blue nylon and carried a basket of
pink rose buds, white pompons and
snapdragons. ;
Mrs. Lord, mother of the bride,
chose | black taffeta and velvet
dress with red roses.
Elvin Crispell was best man and
Howard Shook, brother of the bride-
groom and Walter Galtka, ushers.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion was held at the Noxen Fire
Hall and the couple left for Michi-
gan to visit a former buddy of
the bridegroom’s at Pearl Harbor.
Miss Lord is a graduate of class
of 1951 Noxen High School. She
is employeed at the Miranda Blouse
Company.
Sgt. Shook was also graduated
from Noxen High School and is
completing his fourth year with
the U. S. Marines. He is stationed
at Quantico, Va., and expects his
discharge in September.
His bride will remain with her
family until that time.

daughter, Norma. Frances, to Mur-
ice D. Hosler, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Juluis Hosler of Lake Placid, N. Y.
Miss Dendler is a graduate of Li-
berty High School. She is employed
by the Woolworth Company. Mr.
Hosler attended Lake Placid® High
School and served for three years
with the U. S. Navy. He is em-
ployed by Furman K. Kries.

P. F.C. James Davenport
Pfc. James Davenport Jr., son of
James Davenport of Meeker cele-
brated his twenty-second birthday
anniversary December 5 in Karls-
ruhe, Germany.
Pfc. Davenport attended Dallas
Township High ‘School. Before ent-
ering the service in April he was
employed at Fernbrook Mill.
He received his basic training at
Fort Knox, Ky., from where he had
a seven day leave before going to
Germany. He is with the 517th
Ordnance Heavy Maintenance,
Mrs. John Hildebrant has been
ill at her home at East Dallas.

Senior choir, Dallas Methodist
Church, is planning a party early in
January for members of the youth
and junior choirs ‘who have assisted
in selling candy to build up a fund
