Max Dreher who is employed at
the Corning Glass Works, Corning,
N. Y., spent the weekend with his

Blaine Wilson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Wilson of Shaver-
town is recovering from a serious
operation at the Toledo Hospital in
Ohio.
Cpl. Herbert Dreher who is sta-
tioned at Offutt Air Base, Omaha,
Nebraska, is spending several days
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max
Dreher of Park Street. He flew in
and surprised them.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Graham,
Pioneer Avenue, will entertain a
number of friends at the West-
~ moreland Club Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Lewis Evans, Shavertown,
is spending some time with her
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Milton J. Evans of Media, Pa.
Mrs. Maude Weidner, Trucks-
vile, is a patient at Nesbitt Hospital
where she is getting along nicely.

son, Robert of Syracuse, N. Y.,
spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Culp at Huntsville.

to her home at Trucksville after
spending the Thanksgiving week-
end at Buck Hill Falls and

Mrs, May Husted, ninety-two, of
Shavertown, is seriously ill at her

Orange spent Thanksgiving in
Chester visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ste-
phen Emmanuel.

Vernon will entertain members of

Mrs. Richard Crompton who has
been with her husband in Texas
has returned to her home in
Trucksville while he goes to school
at Gunter, Air Force Base, Mont-
gomery, Ala. Dr. Crompton expects
to spend the holidays in Trucks-
ville.
Joe Wroblewski, son of Mr. and
Stanley Wroblewski of Cen-
ter Hill Road has been ill and out
of school.
Mr, and Mrs. Fred Howell, Pio-
neer Avenue, Shavertown, had as
Thanksgiving guests their sister
and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Abbott and Quincy of Kingston,
Tom Howell, their nephew from
Colgate and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Colly of Kingston.
Mrs. Charles Sprenkel, Church
Street, is a patient at Nesbitt
Hospital.
Mrs. George Howe who has been
a patient at the Graduate Hospital,
University of Pennsylvania, re-
turned to her home on Shaver Ave-
nue, Shavertown, this week.
Albert Siperko of Centermore-
land who is a patient at Danville
State Hospital is getting along
nicely.
Mrs. Marshal Downes who has
been a patient at Mercy Hospital
where she submitted to an opera-
tion returned to her home this
week. She is getting along nicely.
Mr, and Mrs, A. Hanford Eckman
of Huntsville drove to New York
City November 7, to meet Mr. Eck-
man’s aunt, Mrs. Albert Albertson,
who returned from a six months
vacation in Sweden. Mrs. Albert-
son lives in Buffalo, N. Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn H. Johnson
Jr. of Buffalo, N. Y., and Mr. and
Mrs. Hanford L. Eckman of
Brightwaters, Long Island, were the
week guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.
Hanford Eckman of Huntsville,
Mrs. Irv Miller and daughter,
Sandra of Baltimore, Md., are
spending several days with the for-
mer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs, Rich-

Road, celebrated their nineteenth
wedding anniversary on Sunday.

end in New York City to celebrate
their second wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Frances Sutliff who has
been spending several weeks with
her son, Eddie at Pittsburgh, has
returned to the home of her daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
James Morris of Wilkes-Barre.

Miss Bethia Allen Is
Hostess At Shower
Miss Bethia Allen, Harveys Lake,
entertained at a stork shower
honoring Mrs. Dean Kocher Tues-
day evening.
The party table was attractive
with pink snapdragons and chry-
santhemums as center piece and
tall pink tapers. Favors were pink
and blue babies in cradles,

Elstons Celebrate
Mr. and Mrs. I. R. Elston, Shaver-
town, delayed celebration of their
thirty-fifth wedding anniversary
from Thanksgiving until Sunday,
when they held open house for
friends in the evening. The actual
wedding anniversary was spent
with Mr. Elston’s mother, Mrs. Hen-
rietta Miller, Center Street, who at
eighty-seven is still able to cope
with a Thanksgiving dinner.
Phyllis Elaine Hanna
Mr. and Mrs, William Hanna,
Center Hill Road, announce the
birth of a five and.a half pound
baby girl, Phyllis Elaine, at Nes-
bitt Hospital November 23. Mrs.
Hanna is the former Betty Welsh,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Welsh, Center Hill Road. The Han-
nas have one other child, Janice,
aged four.
Dorothy Meade Is
Guest On Birthday
Mrs. Corey Meade, Idetown, en-
tertained at a birthday dinner Sun-
day honoring her daughter, Dor-
othy who observed her birthday
anniversary on Wednesday.
Present were Elizabeth Fannon,
Wilkes-Barre, Howard Meade, Balti-
more, Md., Mr. and Mrs. Walter

Mr. and Mrs. Shad Goss Celebrate
Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Shad Goss cele-
brated their fiftieth wedding an-
niversary November 20 with their
children and grandchildren who
surprised them with a lovely party
at their Claude Street home.
A huge anniversary cake and yel-
low rosebuds and chrysanthemums,
gift of the grandchildren, made an
attractive and festive tea table.
The couple received many lovely
gifts and hearty congratulations.
Mrs. Goss is the former Sarah
Wilkinson, daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. W. E, Wilkinson of
Broadway. Mr. Goss is son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Gwin Goss, Fair-
mont farmers.
The couple was married at
Fairmont, November 1, 1901 where
they started housekeeping with
Mr, Goss helping his dad on the
farm. -About thirty years ago, when
they tired of farm life, the couple
moved to Kingston and Mr. Goss
took up the plaster trade. Three
.years later they built their home
on Claude Street and became per-
manent residents of the Back
Mountain Area where Mr. Goss
has built up a fine plaster con-
tracting business.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Goss are mem-
bers of the Dallas Methodist
Church. Mr. Goss is serving his
fifth term as Chief Sergeant of
Arms at Harrisburg, is committee
man for the Middle District of Dal-
las Township, and served one term
as Dallas Township School Di-
rector.
There are three children: Basil,
who lives right close to his par-
ents on Claude Street; Mrs, Clar-
ence Benscoter of Muhlenburg and
William Gleason of Shickshinny;
five grandchildren, Clarecne Ben-
scoter Jr. Muhlenburg; Shirley
Reese, Baltimore, Md.; and Alva
and Reva Goss and Elgene Ben-
scoter of Wilkes-Barre; three great-
grandchildren, two of them born
Tuesday, twin boys to Junior Ben-
scoter and Bobby Reese.
Present at the party besides all
the children and grandchildren
with their wives and husbands and
Bobby Reese, were Mrs. Jennie
Search, Mrs. Linson Bigler, and
Miss Mildred Castner.

Barre, January 5 at 10:30 a.m.

the ceremony in St. Therese's Ro-
man Catholic Church.

served with the U. S. Air Force
during World War II. He is asso-
ciated with the Sales Department
of Hazard Insulate Wire Works

Hostess To Lake Board
Mrs. John Zorzi Jr. recently en-
tertained members of the Executive
Board of Harveys Lake Woman's
Service Club when reports were
given by all department chairmen
and plans for the next three
months outlined. A white elephant
sale will be held January 3, a val-
entine dance in February and a
card party in early spring. The
club gave thirty dollars to “Care”
for packages for children in Korea.
The December Club meeting will
be in the form of a Christmas
party. Gifts will be exchanged and
kfood and canned goods bought for
