LeVan Dies In Philadelphia Mrs. Stella Williams LeVan, 81, born in Loyalville and a former re- sident of Lehman, died in Phila- delphia’ Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian Home where she had been living for a number of years. Mrs, LeVan suffered a stroke two weeks ago. Her death was not un- expected. In addition to a son, James, who lives in Philadelphia, Mrs. LeVan is survived by a brother, James Williams, and several nieces and nephews in the Back Mountain Re- gion. Bess Klinetob is her first cousin. Funeral services will be held in Philadelphia on Friday. Mrs. Agnes Harper Dies At Sister's Home, Noxen Mrs. Agnes Devine Harper, Brook- lyn, N. Y., died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Gomer Thomas, Noxen, at noon on Sunday, two days before her fifty-second birth- day. She had been in ill health for some months. Mrs. Harper graduated from Nox- en schools, and in 1918 from the Robert Packer Hospital training school in Sayre. For twelve years she served as a nurse in the Navy, on troop ships and on shore, from the Atlantic to the Pacific. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her sister, Mrs. Gomer Thomas; and two nieces; Mrs. E. W. ' Felegy, Minnesota, and Mrs. Wil- liam Lee, Jr., Dallas. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 11, from the home in Noxen, with Rev. Joseph Nallin, Church of the Nativity, Tunkhannock, officiating, and burial in the family plot at Orcutt Ceme- tery. Mrs. Valera Henry Dies, Formerly of Shavertown Friends of Mrs. Valera E. Henry who. knew and loved her during her long residence in Shavertown after her late husband's retire- ment from the Methodist ministry, will be sorry to hear that she passed away at 83 in the Crowe Nursing Home, Canton. She broke her hip in 1947, and while laid up with that infirmity, put in her time learning to read Braille. She had been nearly blind for some time before the accident, became totally blind during the last two years of her life. She is remembered in Shaver- town, where she lived for fourteen years after her husband's death, as much interested in Church, Sun- day School andiBible work, and also as a great gardener. She and her husband developed a large garden on East Center Street, planting trees and shrubbery as well as flowers. Old acquaintances say that she was consistently cheerful, no matter what happened. Surviving are three sons, Robert M. Laureldale; Clinton E., Syracuse, N. Y.; and Neal D., Camden; a sister, Mrs. Charles M. Rhoades, Cleveland; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Hospital Sewing Bee Sewing Bee for Nesbitt Hospital will be held at the home of Mrs. Marian Cortright Tuesday, Novem- ber 27 at 10 o'clock. Members are asked to bring sandwiches.
