Kunkle Silverleaf Club
Plans Ice-Cream Social
Silver Leaf Club, Kunkle, will
meet at the Firemen’s Hall on
Tuesday at 8 PM, with Mrs. Anna
Weaver, Mrs. Nellie Ellsworth, and
Mrs. Erma Ellsworth as hostesses.
The club is planning an ice cream
social in Kunkle Community Hall
on Thursday at 7:30, with home-
made ice-cream and cake and a
fishpond as drawing cards. Mrs.
Arline Kunkle and Mrs. Grace Ide
head the refreshment committee,
Mrs. Helen Landon will have charge
of the fishpond. Each club mem-
ber is asked to donate two small
gifts for the pond.

Once again the weather man
took over, so there was no game
on the Fourth between East Dallas
and Beaumont. However, the Little
League got its game between Tunk-
hannock and Beaumont under way
“before the rains came” and took
the Gay-Murray team by the mar-
gin 1-0.
Billy Meeker Jr., is doing somie
Connecticut fishing while he is
visiting the following relatives: Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Moore of Plans-
ville, Conn., and Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Dymond of Simsburg.
Mrs. Violet Gary had a busy
Fourth when her following dau-
ghters with their families dropped
in: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wheeler
and daughters Mildred and Alyce
Jane of White Haven; Mr. and
Mrs. James Oberst with Jimmy,
Diane, and Linda of Falls; and Mrs.
Joseph Polinski and Judy Ann of
Kingston.
Mrs. Edward MacDougall enjoy-
ed her stay with her sister, Mrs.
Percy Ross, at Bridgeport, Conn.
Mrs. Glen Clark is wished a com-
plete recovery at the General Hos-
pital where she is a patient.
Mrs. Donald Robinson, Mr. and
Mrs. John Robinson with children,
Robert, Nancy, and Johnny of Phil-
adelphia were with the Earl John-
sons for the Fourth.
The Job Dietzes entertained Mr.
and Mrs, William Lambert and
son of Dover, N. J. for Independ-
(ence Day.
C. W. Smith and his son-in-law,
John Smith, are members of a
group enjoying fishing at Crow
Lake, Ont., Canada.
Jane Gary is doing her vacation-
ing in Kingston.
Rosemary Sands of Mehoopany
is enjoying her stay with her aunt,
Mrs. Edward MacDougall.
The bass bit so well that Wm.
Arch Austin is taking the Mrs.
back to Long Lake, Ont., Canada
to get ‘the big one”. They will
spend the weekend at Goose Bay
on the St. Lawrence with the Her-
bert Denningtons and then to Long
Lake to join the Asher Rimples
of Forty Fort.

Mrs. Richard Traver is spending
a few days with her brother, Wil-
bur Crispell of Elmira, N. Y,
Mrs, William Keiper hag returned
from the hospital but must re-
main in bed for a few days. Mrs.
Frederick Case, her granddaughter
is taking care of her.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pearn of
Athens is the guest of Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Beahm.
Classmates of Anna May Space
held a shower honoring her at the
home of Miss Frances Lord.
Members of the Lions Club are
interested in magazines and news

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Leibin-
guth and sons are spending a week
in Parsons, W. Va., with Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Miller.
Ralph Hoover will be - sadly
missed by the many pupils who
rode on the bus to and from
school.
Michael Butry suffered s a stroke
last week.
Mrs. Thomas Patton is still in
a critical condition at the hospital.
She is the former Helen Butry.
The Field Day in Noxen was a.
great success. A block party will
be held at Crispell’s shortly.

I drive around eighty miles a
day. I have two regular jeeps
equipped with four radios each, and
one special built jeep with armor
plate for protection against mines.
Also one escort jeep with a ma-
chine gun mounted on it. The
General, his Aide, and a Korean
interpreter are with me in one jeep
and the escort jeep carries a driver,
an aide, and a machine gunner.
A few times a week the General
travels by plane, flying over the
front lines to study positions. When
not driving, my time is my own, I
just loaf around. Every night at
5 P.M. I go wash my jeep which
I use the following day. It has to
shine. Then we go swimming. We
have a deep river here and it is
really nice. Thanks for the Post.
