HOT FLUSHES? |
Do you suffer from hot flushes,
nervous tension, upset emotions
due to functional ‘change of life’
(38-52 years) —that period when
fertility ebbs away, when em- |
barrassing symptoms of this na-
ture may betray your age?
Then start taking Lydia E.
Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound
to relieve such symptoms. No
other medicine of this type for
women has such a long record of
success. Taken regularly, Pink-
ham’s Compound helps build up
resistance against this annoying |
middle-age distress. Truly the
woman’s friend!
Note: Or you may prefer Lydia

added iron. Any drugstore.

Dorrance F amily Relinquishes
Long Presidency Of Association
The fourth member of the Dor-
ance family to hold the presidency
of Wyoming Commemorative Asso-
ciation, Miss Frances Dorrance, will
preside at Tuesday's observance at
Wyoming Monument, then relin-
quish the presidency to Colonel
T. H. Atherton.
Observance will be at 10:30 A.M.,
with an address by Dr. Paul A.
Wallace, editor of the quarterly,
“Pennsylvania History”, professor
at Lebanon College, and member
of The Pennsylvania Historical and
Museum Commission. He will
speak on ‘This Land is my Inheri-
tance.” =~
Exercises will be open to the
general public.
The Association commemorates
the 1778 Massacre, when Indians
from the Six Nations swept down
the Susquehanna in collaboration
with the British, and nearly wiped
out the young settlement. History
records that only old men and
young boys, settlers not fit for mili-
tary service, were left at the settle-
ment to combat the bloodthirsty
horde, but that providentially Col-
onel Zebulon Butler and Colonel
Nathan Dennison were home on
leave, otherwise the catastrophe
would have been complete.
Charles Dorrance and Steuben
Jenkins called the citizenry to ob-
serve the 100th anniversary of the
massacre in 1878, and organized
the Wyoming Commemorative
Association officially in 1881. Char-
les Dorrance was the first presi-
dent. It was Benjamin Dorrance,
an ancestor, who lived through the
massacre as a twelve-year-old boy.
Upon Charles Dorrance’s death
in 1892, Calvin Parsons filled the
presidency until 1895, when Ben-
jamin Dorrance took over and
served until his death in 1922.
Miss Anne Dorrance, following
in her father’s footsteps, accepted
the presidency in 1922 and served
until her own death in February
of this year.
Miss Frances has taken the chair
pro-tem, the fourth of her direct
line to hold the honor. She will
relinquish the post, and the pres-
idency will pass from the Dorrance
family to T. H. Atherton on Tues-
day. 7
Three Back Mountain men are
vice presidents, Colonel Dorrance
Reynolds, Harry B. Schooley, and
Abram Nesbitt 2nd.
