Mr. and Mrs. Donald Davis of
Cneter Hill have returned from a
trip to Haiti, Puerto Rico, Domini-
can Republic, Cuba and Miami.
Joseph MacVeigh spent last
Thursday in Washington.
Mr. and Mrs. James Besecker,
Mr. and Mrs: Raymon Hedden, Mr.
and Mrs. Harris Haycox and Mr.
and Mrs. David Jenkins were
among those Dallas persons who
attended the inauguration of Gov-
ernor John Fine in Harrisburg on
Tuesday.
Rev. S. R. Nichols returned to
his home, Main road, Shavertown,
January 1 after . spending two
weeks as a patient at General Hos-
pital. He is gradually improving.
His sister, Mrs. Lillian Osgood of
Scranton is taking care of him.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Lurba,
McLean, Va., have returned to their
home in McLean, Va., after spend-
ing a month in Palm Beach. Mrs.
Lurba is the former Louise Space.
Mrs. Andrew Kozemchak and
daughter, Eva of Overbrook av-
enue, have joined Mr. Kozemchak
in Newport, R.I. where he is sta-
tioned with the U. S. Navy.
They expect to remain there for
three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Warner F. Cook of
Ridge street, have announced the
birth of a son, David Robert in
General Hospital January 13. Mrs.
Cook is the former Gwyneth
Sturdevant, daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. P.J. Sturdevant of Huntsville.
This is their second son.
Mr. and Mrs. George Stredney
Dallas, R. D. have announced the
birth of a baby girl at General
Hospital January 15.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Himmler,
Lake road, will leave shortly for
a vacation in Miami, Fla.
Mrs. Harry Ohlman, adviser, will
be hostess to members of the Exe-
cutive Board of Dallas Junior
Woman's Club Tuesday at 8 P.M.
Mary Lou Jones, daughter of
Mr and Mrs. Herbert Jones of
Shavertown was guest of honor at
a birthday party Saturday. She
was two.
Gordon Austin, Main road, Shav-
ertown, was pleasantly surprised
Saturday night when neighbors
dropped in with covered dishes to
help him celebrate his birthday
anniversary.
Mrs. Sherman Wardan, Main
road, Shavertown, celebrated her
birthday anniversary quietly with
a family dinner on Tuesday.
William H. Dierolf Sr. of Shaver-
town has returned to work after
having a piece of his jaw bone
sawed off at Nesbitt Hospital. The
jaw was broken while having a
tooth extracted some time ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Elwood McCarty
had as recent guests Mr. and Mrs.
Linden Tucker of Schenectady, N.Y.
Bruce Keen spent several days
recently with his grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Polk of Harris Hill
road, Trucksville.
Mr. and Mrs. Elwood McCarty
entertained at a birthday dinner
recently in honor of Mrs. Me-
Carty’s sister, Mrs. Albert Major
and Mrs. Clifford Ide.

Harold Titman spent Tuesday in
Minersville visiting Mrs. Lloyd
Kear whose mother, Mrs, George
Ball died Monday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Daily, Lawn
street, Shavertown, entertained re-
cently Mr. and Mrs. Robert Plum-
mer cf Charlotte, N. C.
Max Dreher, Park street, has
left for Corning, N. Y. where he
is employed by the Corning Glass
Works.
Miss Marilyn Ohlman, student
at Temple University, will spend
this weekend with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ohlman, Ma-
chell avenue.
Charles Sims Hemenway and
Warren Sutton spent the week of
the Farm Show with the milking
Shorthorn herd at Harrisburg.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Conyngham
attended the Farm Show to watch
the showing of Hillside Farms’
Milking Shorthorn Herd.
Mrs. C. S. Hemenway, Mrs. Dor-’
man Schooley, Mrs. Warren Sut-

side Farms attended the Harris-
burg Farm Show on Wednesday.

To Wed Robert Wrigley
Announcement has been made
of the engagement and approach-
ing marriage of Miss Marilynn E.
Daily, 508 Market street, Kings-
ton, daughter of Paul R. Daily,
Lawn street, Shavertown, to Rob-
ert Wrigley, son of Mrs. Mable
Guyette of 64 John street, Kings-
ton.
The wedding will take place Feb-
ruary 17 in the Westmoor Church
of Christ. Rev. George Alexander
will perform the double ring cere-
mony.
Miss Daily is a graduate of King-
ston High School. She has been
employed in the laboratory office
of the Hazard Okenite Company.
Mr. Wrigley was also graduated
from Kingston High School and is
employed by the Southern Rail-
road System in Washington, D. C.
The couple will reside in Wash-
ington.
Twins and Grandmother
Celebrate Birthdays
Mrs. Cecil Sutton of Idetown en-
tertained at a birthday party for
her twin sons, Cecil Jr. and Calvin
and their grandmother, Mrs. Fred
Sutton. The twins were born on
Mrs. Sutton’s birthday and were
her first grandchildren. They re-
ceived many beautiful gifts.
The tea table was festive with
Hopalong Cassidy decorations and
identical birthday cakes as center-
pieces. Musical balloons and funny
hats were the favors.
Games were led by Miss Phyllis
Sutton and Mrs. Walter Andrews.

Have New Baby Boy
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Biggs, Mor-
risville, Pa., have announced the
birth of a five and a half pound
baby boy at Allentown Hospital
January 12. Mrs. Biggs is the
former Pearl Hopple of Dallas. Mr.
Biggs is son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Biggs of Shavertown.

Mr. and Mrs.
Carverton road, Trucksville, have
announced the birth of a baby
boy, Larry at Nesbitt Hospital Jan-
uary 13. The Baths have another
son, Kenneth.

Mr. and Mrs. George Shaver Jr.
of Overbrook avenue, Trucksville,
have announced the birth of a
son, Thomas Paul at Nesbitt Hos-
pital, January 13. They have an-
other son, Skippy. Mrs. Shaver
is the former Mary Snyder of Leh-
man.
Mrs. George Turn, Penny and
the former’s mother, Mrs. Atwater
will leave the end of next week
to make their home in State Col-
lege where Betty will continue
study for her B. A. degree. They
will return to Shavertown in the
summer.
Miss Grace Cave will leave for
New York on Wednesday where
she will stock up on new merchan-
dise.
William Haddle of Kunkle left
Sunday to accept a position in
Pittsburgh. His family will remain
here for the time being.

Miss Leona Cigarski Becomes
Bride Of Hunlock Creek Man
Miss Leona M. Cigarski, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cigar-
ski of Trucksville R. D. became
the bride of Carl A, Aston of Hun-
lock Creek Saturday morning, Jan-
uary 13 at 11 o'clock. Father Ed-
ward Haggerty performed the
double ring ceremony.
Attendants were Veronica Em-
erick, cousin of the bride of Chase,
and Joseph Cigarski, brother of the
bride.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore white satin gown
fashioned with tigh bodice, full
skirt, long tight sleeves and round
neckline edged with lace. Her
finger-tip veil of illusion fell from
a crown of satin ribbon and seed
pearls and she carried a prayer
book marked with an orchid.

Durbin, son of Mr. and Mrs. John
C. Durbin of Fitchburg, Mass.
Tuesday December 19 at 7:30 p.m.
The Durbins are former Dallas resi-
dents. The Durbin Sunday School
Class of Dallas Methodist Church
is named for Mrs. Durbin, its first
teacher.
Rev. Randall Clinton Giddings,
rector of St. George's Mission
Church of Durham, N, H. former
rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal
Church of Wilkes-Barre, performed
the ceremony at the home of the
bride's parents.
Miss Bernice Laurence was her
sister's maid of honor and James
G. Durbin of the U. S. Navy, now
stationed at Newport R. I, his
brother’s best man.
Miss Ruth Wilson Laurence
styled similarly to the bride's with
short sleeves and matching mitts.
She wore a blue plume in her hair
and carried talisman tea roses.
After the ceremony a breakfast
was held at the home of the bride
followed by a reception at Turner’s
Restaurant in Forty Fort. The
couple spent their honeymoon at
Niagara Falls.
Mrs. Aston is a graduate of
Lehman High School and has been
emplcyed by the McKettrick Wil-
liams Inc. in Luzerne. Mr. Aston
was also graduated from Lehman
High School, where the couple met
each other, and served during
World War II with the U. S. Army.
He is employed by the Chase Dairy
owned by his brother, Charles
Cigarski Jr.
The couple resides at Chase.
John Durbin
The bride wore winter white
street length - wool dress with
shoulder bouquet of red roses. Miss
Laurence chose navy wool with red
roses. Both boys were in uniform.
Mrs. Durbin is a graduate of
Cushing Academy and a member
of the sophomore class at Univers-
ity of New Hampshire. Mr. Dur-
bin was graduated from Central
High School, Philadelphia, and
Cushing Academy, and was a mem-
ber of the sophomore class at Penn
State College when recalled to ser-
vice with the U. S. Marines. Dur-
ing World War II he served for
two years at Guam. He is now
stationed at Camp Lejeune, N. C.
He returned to camp the day after
Christmas.
Mrs. Durbin resumed her studies
at the University on New Year's
Day.

urday in honor of her son, Brad-
ley, who celebrated his tenth birth-

At Birthday Party
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Simms, De-
munds road, entertained at a
theatre party at the Himmler fol-
lowed by refreshments at Bow-
man’s Restaurant Monday evening
honoring their twin children, Carol
and Kenny, aged 9.
The party table was attractively
decorated with. pink and white
tapers and a luscious birthday cake.
Hats, favors and juke box music
completed the evening. ‘The twins
received lots of lovely gifts.
