Growing Business
<&' Raymond Carlin, 73, East Dallas,
dropped dead Saturday night at 9,
in the kitchen of his home while
~ listening to the radio. His wife
had spoken to him not five min-
utes before, then returned to the
kitchen to find that he had suc-
cumed to a heart attack,
: Twelve years ago Mr. Carlin fell
out of an apple tree and injured
musales around his heart, Realiz-
ing that the heart was weakened,
he took precautions to do no heavy
lifting or place undue strain upon
it, but continued with his regular
work in the fruit orchards. The
Thursday before his death he had
"driven to Fernbrook on business,
and had repaired a chicken coop

Heart Seizure
With the unexpected death on
Saturday of Frank Edwards, 81,
sweet Valley, another well known
octogenarian has passed from the
Jack Mountain scene,
Mr, Edwards had been sorting
apples in his apple house and had
.aounted his truck to make a de-
«very when he was stricken with
1 heart attack and died instantly.
Jor the two weeks previous he had
complained of occasional slight

sarlier activities had been some-
vhat curtailed of late by advanc-
ing age.
Born in Lake Township, son of
Albert and Sara Ann Edwards, he
moved to Wilkes-Barre where he

Library Book Club
Back Mountain Library Book
Club will hold its Christmas meet-
ing Wednesday at the library at
2 PM. The program chairman,
Mrs. Cari Hedden, has arranged a
Christmas program, and Christmas
tea will be served by the hostess
committee, Mrs. Walter Elston,

The Christmas tree, donated by
Mrs. W. F. Newberry, was trimmed
by Mrs. Herbert Smith, Jr. and
Mrs. Stephen Davis. The sturdy
standard was purchased from the
contingent fund, and is rugged
enough for years of service. Lights
in the base replace the customary
tree lights.

Jacob Johnson passed away at
his home at Idetown November
21, 1950. ;
He was born at Idetown, Lehman
Township, October 23, 1872, the
son of Peter D. and Amanda John-
son,
He had resided in Idetown his
entire life,
He was survived by the follow-
ing children: Arthur, Berkshire, N.
Y.; Raymond, Wilkes-Barre; Mrs.
Ira Pifer, Idetown; Laura, at home;
and one grandson, Donald.
The funeral was held at the fu-
neral home, 81 Main street, Dallas,
on Saturday, November 25, 1950.
Rev. Frank K. Abbott, Idetown
Methodist Church, officiated.
Bearers were William Casterline,
Howard Brice, Fred Sutton, - Elmer
Hoover, and Nelson Rogers. Inter-
ment was in Idetown Cemetery.

Headway On Badge
_ Girl Scout Troop 54, with seven
weeks of ceramics instruction and
two weeks to go after Christmas,
will have fully earned its cera-
mics badge by the end of January.
A number of interesting items have
been turned out, including deco-
rative placques to hang on the
wall, ashtrays moulded by the rol-
led tube pr , and small animals,
Members of the group who are

extra period to Mrs. W. E. McQuil-
kin’s home on Franklin street Sa-
turday mornings for further work.
Mrs. McQuilkin, leader, has been
using the Girl Scout Headquarters
Kiln, lent to her for the winning
of this badge.

has also been working with five
Boy Scouts for the past five Satur-
days. Two more sessions will
finish this course, and Leslie Bars-
tow. Donald Roeske, Donald Rein-

kin will be able to use their tro-
phies for Christmas presents.
