It's Hard To Believe
. t's hard to believe, but Chief
Tregaskis writes that just a week
ago Monday night, he and his son,
Frankie, gathered a pint of night-
walkers on their lawn in Franklin
Township. A week later strong
winds blew his backhouse off its
foundation and snow piled high in
the hedgerows.

THE POST, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1950
Carl Walters | Dies
Of Weak Heart
Attempts To Return
To Work, Drops Dead
Carl W. Walters, Carpenter road,
Harvey's Lake, died suddenly on
Friday after a short illness of com-
bined pneumonia and pleurisy from
which he thought he had sufficient-
ly recovered to go back to work.
Realizing that he felt unwell, he
went to his mother’s house at
72 East Ross street, Wilkes-Barre,
close to his place of employment at
Anthony Wideman’s meat market,
and dropped dead from a weaken-
ed heart.
His wife, summoned from New
York where she had been having
medical attention, was shocked at
the circumstance, as Carl, more
widely known as Mike, had never
been ill.
His mother, Mrs. Catherine Wal-
ters, 88 years old, has lost her
only son, born to her long after
normal child-bearing years, and
very close. With his
place near at hand, he had always
eaten dinner with her.
Mr. and Mrs. Walters had been
living at Harvey's Lake only a
little over two years, having built
a new home there so that they
could live in the hills.
Born in Wilkes-Barre and edu-
cated at St. Vincent's, he was a,
member of St. Nicholas Church and
the Holy Name Society. He en-
joyed all forms of sports, hunted,
fished, and bowled.
Mr. Walters is survived by his
wife, the former Eleanor Myers;
his mother; four sisters, Mrs. Ja-
cob Reinhardt, Mrs. Jacob J. Lis-
man, and Mrs. Emma Baiz, all of
Wilkes-Barre, and Elizabeth, at
home. There are no children.
He was buried from St. Nicholas
Church with a requiem mass cele-
brated at 9:30 Tuesday morning,
and interred in St. Nicholas ceme-
tery, Shavertown.
Bearers were: Jack Nothoff, Mel-
vin Watkins, Francis Reinhardt,
Robert Hayward, Carl Fried, Harry
Jones.
