James B. Morton Dies
From Heart Attack
James B. Morton, 66, Hillside
street, Harveys Lake, was buried
Monday afternoon in Wyoming
Cemetery, following funeral ser-
vices at the J. S. Miller funeral
home in Plains, with Rev. Paul W,
Keppel, Stella Presbyterian Church
officiating.
Mr. Morton, the victim of a sud-
den heart attack, died at his home
He had been
employed for forty years by
Wilkes-Barre Lace Company as a
lace weaver,
_ Born at Darvel, ‘Scotland, he
came to this country in early
youth, married the former Helen
McLellan, North Wilkes-Barre, and
resided for a number of years in
Forty-Fort before moving to Har-
veys Lake, He remained a mem-
ber of the Stella Presbyterian

He is survived by his wife; a
son,, Hugh B. who is attached to
the Patuxent River Naval Air Sta-
tion, Maryland; three grandchil-
dren; several brothers and sisters
in Scotland.

tient at the General Hospital.

guests of Mr. and Mrs. Milo Bur-
gess at New Milford. Mrs. Bur-
gess is the former Mrs. Florence
Post of Wilkes Barre.
Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Joseph of
Norton avenue will have as
Thanksgiving Day guests Mr. Jo-
seph’s mother, Mrs. J. D. Joseph,
his sister, Miss Anne Joseph, John
Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Wollbert and Alice and Ken Jr., of
Shavertown; Mr. and Mrs, Arthur
Evans and Gwen and Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Thomas of Wilkes Barre.

Shut-Ins, Cheered
With Holiday Boxes
Over thirty shut-ins were cheer-
ed over the weekend and the
early part of the week when mem-
ers of the Shut-in Committee of
Women of the Rotary called on
them and delivered boxes of holi-
day goodies, fruit cakes, nuts and
various kinds of candies.
Heading the committee was Mrs.
George Metz assisted by Mrs. Ray
Hedden, Mrs. Harold Titman, Mrs.
Francis Ambrose, Mrs. David Jen-
kins, Mrs. Dan Robinhold, Mrs.
David Williams, and Mrs, James
Besecker.
Committee members met at the
Besecker home Friday night to ar-
rangs the boxes and enjoy an in-
formal lunch featuring Emily's fa-
mous coconut-custard pie.
