    Mrs. Lena Hay, Noxen,
Improving In City
Mrs. Lena Hay, Noxen, who was
removed to the General Hospital,
Wilkes-Barre, on Labor Day, in a
state of coma due to starvation, is
improving and has been discharged
in the care of her step-grand-dau-
ghter, Miss Mary Coates, Wilkes-
Barre.
Mrs. Hay, 80, was taken to the
hospital by Fred Swanson in the |*
Harveys Lake ambulance at the
request of Dr. Lester M. Saidman,
who had been summoned by neigh-
bors who had not seen Mrs. Hay
around for some weeks. She had
been reduced to a living skeleton
by lack of nourishment, and little
hope was held out for her re-
covery.
Her husband, Frank Hay, re-
cipient of Social Security was ar-
rested by Wyoming County author-
ities and held for investigation on
grounds of neglect.
Borough Students
Take Subscriptions
Dallas Borough students started
soliciting magazine subscriptions on
Monday. Funds realized from sales
will go toward basketball uniforms
and other student activities.
According to Charles James, sup-
ervising principal, it takes $20 to
outfit each of the ten boys on the
team. The goal for the fund is
set at $800 to $900.
