Mrs. Oxley will return to her home in Providence, R. I. next week. Capt. Harold Rood who has been stationed in Germany for the past three years spent several days this week with his wife, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rood of Leh- man avenue. George Phillips of Buffalo, N. Y,, is spending his vacation with his mother, Mrs. Florence Phillips and his grandmother, Mrs. Fred Gor- don, Norton avenue. Mrs. Phillips and the children have been here for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Velton Bean and Linda have returned to their home in Jackson Township after spend- ing a few days with friends in Perth Amboy, N. J. Glen Carey is returning this week from Camp Penwick, Mass. where he spent the summer, Charles H. Carey has returned from a’ Naval cruise. He is a member of Battery 18 and is awaiting further orders. Birthday Dinner Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Hemenway of Hillside Farms entertained at dinner last Thursday honoring Mrs. Victor Baiz of Wilkes-Barre who celebrated her birthday anni- versary. Robert Webster will re- turn to his home in Trucksville Sunday after spending several weeks at Sky Lake Camp. Miss Betty Cook who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Cook of Fernbrook will re- turn to her position in New York City next week. Warren Hicks of New York City visited his mother, Mrs. T. M. B. Hicks Jr., Pioneer avenue, last week. He came to the Valley to see his new son. Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Jones and Nancy Jane have moved to '21 Spring street, Shavertown. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Shewan and son, Robert, attended the Wise-Nash wedding at Allentown on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Buckley and son, Jimmy, spent last week- end in Asbury Park and Atlantic City. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rowlands of Edwardsville. Mrs. Harry Ohlman, is a patient at Wyoming Valley Homeopathic Hospital where she submitted to an operation on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Henney and son, Robert and Ray Kuhnert have returned from a tour of the New England States and Canada. Mrs. Otto Stompler and daugh- ter, Winifred, are visiting the former’s daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Henney of Kunkle. Mrs. Dale Wolfe, daughter, Enid, and son, Arthur, of Norwood, Ohio, will be the guests this weekend of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Howell of Shavertown. Mrs. Wolfe is Mr. Howell’s sister. Her daughter, a graduate of DePauw University, will enter Katherine Gibbs School, Boston, this fall. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Bertram, former residents, are visiting old friends in Shavertown. The bride given in marriage by her father wore aqua street-length dress with white accessories. Her shoulder bouquet was of pink roses, Miss Thomas chose pink dress with white accessories and yellow rose buds. Following the ceremony,” a re- ception was held at the home of the bridegroom. Mrs. Lewis is a graduate of Swoyerville High School and has been employed by the Duplan Silk Mill. Mr. Lewis attended Kingston Township High School and has been serving with the U. S. Navy. The couple will reside with the bridegroom’s parents. Miss Jeanette Truax Marries Vernon Moore Mrs. S. T. Truax of Laurel Run, former Demunds and Orange resi- dent, announces the marriage of her daughter, Jeanette, to Vernon Moore of Rochester, Minn. The ceremony was performed August 19 at Rochester. Mrs. Moore who is connected with the Sister Kenney Polio In- stitute has just completed a year’s study and training at the Mayo Clinic. She expects to spend the next year in Jersey City with the polio Foundation. During World War II she served with the U.S. Army. Mrs. Truax and the Moores called on the C. J. Eippers and Mrs. Mel- vin Mosier on Monday. Teaches In Delaware Albert Crispell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Crispell of Noxen R.D., left Tuesday for Newark, Del, where he has accepted a position teaching fourth grade. For the past three years, Albert, who received his Masters’ Degree at Penn State, has been teaching at Hockessin, Del. During World War II he served for four years with the U. S. Army in the Phil- ippines and Japan. Seventh Son Born Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sutton of Idetown have announced the birth of a son at General Hospital Wed- nesday, August 23. Mrs. Sutton is the former Doris Krieger, dau- ghter of James Krieger and the late Mrs. Ethel Krieger. This is the Sutton’s seventh son. Tom Thumb Wedding To Be Repeated The Tom Thumb Wedding which played to a capacity crowd at Dal- las Township School Friday eve- ning, will be repeated by popular request at Dallas Borough School on September 13, 7:30. Mrs. Wil- son Garinger is chairman, Mrs. Charles Mahler co-chairman. The wedding was sponsored by the Dallas Junior Woman's Club. A party for all children taking part was held last week, Mrs. Wil- liam Hanna and Mrs. William Baker, Jr., chairmen. About seventy children were entertained. At a lovely wedding, Miss Elean- or Stash, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Stash of Overbrook road, became the bride of Emery Shady, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shady of Swoyerville, Saturday, August 5 at 10 o'clock in the morning. Rev. John J. O'Leary performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with palms and gladioli. Mrs. Robert Laux played the wedding march and Mrs. Frank McGarry was soloist. Miss Josephine Hudak, Over- brook road, was maid of honor and her sister, Miss Rosine Hudak and Miss Delores Soley, Larksville, were bridesmaids. Mary Ann Buzas, of Swoyerville, niece of the bride- groom, was flower girl. John Bosak, cousin of the bride- groom, was best man and George Fabian, nephew of the’bridegroom, and Thomas Stash, brother of the bride, ushers. The bride given in marriage by her father, wore French gown over taffeta fashioned with Peter Pan collar of chantilly lace, tight bodice and full skirt. Maid of honor chose taffeta gown of green with matching head- dress and bridesmaids, lavender. They all carried bouquets of roses. Little Mary Ann-Buzas wore nylon net dress of Nile green made with double skirt and carried a basket of mixed flowers. The brides mother selected green print and orchid corsage and the Dbridegroom’s mother, blue print with orchid corsage. Following the ceremony, a diriner was served to members of the im- mediate families at the home of the bride, followed by a reception for a hundred fifty guests. After a trip to Philadelphia, the couple took up residence at 81 Perrin street, Swoyerville. Mrs. Shady, a graduate of Dallas Township High School, is employed at General Cigar Factory, Nanti- coke” Mr. Shady attended Swoyer- ' ville High School and served with the U. S. Army as infantryman during World War II. He is now employed by . the Harry E. Coal Company.
