JAY COOKE for Governor
A Message to Veterans
The ex-GIs who have signed their names to this letter, all
served under Jay Cooke in the 3rd Battalion, 110th Infantry, 28th
Division, in the last war.
Jay Cooke is running for Governor of Pennsylvania. We are
going all out to get him nominated by the Republicans in the Pri-
mary on Tuesday, May 16th, 1950, and elected next November.
How about you? Can we count on you to give a hand?
Jay got a belly-full of war in 1917 with the 79th Division in
France—when he and his outfit were mustard gassed. He didn’t
have to get fouled up in the last one.
Heart. Didn’t need the new one they pinned on him for getting
He already had a Purple
his eye shot out at St. Lo, when he was hit by a machine gun burst.
JAY WAS OUR LIEUTENANT COLONEL. HE COULD
GET HARD-BOILED, BUT HE NEVER PULLED HIS RANK.
AND WHEN WE MARCHED, HE DIDN'T RIDE ANY JEEP. HE
SHARED THE DEAL ACROSS THE CHANNEL AND INTO THE
HEDGEROWS AND HE WAS UP IN FRONT OF OUR COLUMN
WHEN HE GOT HIS.

You want a friend in Harrisburg? 1 ay Cooke’s your man. He
knows the score on veteran problems—from the vet angle.
Talk up Jay Cooke for Governor. Noise it around with other
vets. Another thing, a lot of vets are apt to dog the Primary, like
anyone else, they just don’t get out and vote. Get them to the polls
for Jay Cooke.
Jay Cooke is the only vet of both World Wars I and II running
for Republican nomination for a top office on May 16th. He's got
a fight on his hands. He needs help—the help of other vets like you.
Let’s fight alongside him.
elected.
Let’s get him nominated and
Let’s put one of the finest soldiers who ever got back alive
into the Governor’s chair in Harrisburg. j
