SOLICIT SEALED BIDS
NOTICE is hereby given that the
Board of Supervisors of the Town-
ship of Lake, Luzerne County,
Pennsylvania, will receive sealed
bids for the purchase of 11 general
obligation coupon Road Machinery
Bonds of the denomination of $500
each, aggregating $5500.00, to bear
interest at a rate to be named by
the bidder or bidders in multiples
of one-eighth of one per cent, per
annum, payable semi-annually on
January 1, and July 1. Bids will
be received for the entire issue at
any one rate of interest, but no bid
combining two different rates of
interest will be accepted. Said
bonds and the interest thereon will
be payable without deduction for
any tax or taxes, except succession
or inheritance taxes, now or here-
after levied or assessed thereon
under any present or future law of
the Commonwealth of Pennsyl-
vania, all of which taxes the Town-
ship of Lake assumes and agrees to
pay. The bonds will be sold to the
highest responsible bidder, provided
such bid is not less than par and
accrued interest.
The highest responsible bidder
shall be the one who, having com-
plied with the conditions of sale,
offers to take the whole amount
of the issue at the lowest interest
cost to the municipality, which
shall be determined by deducting
from the total amount of interest
to be paid on account of such
bonds during the life thereof, the
amount of premium offered, if any,
over and above the face amount of
the issue.
The bonds will be dated January
1, 1950, may be registered as to
principal only, and will mature in
numerical order as follows:
$2,000.00 on January 1, 1951,
and $2,000.00 on January 1,
1952, and $1,500.00 on January
1, 1953.
Every bid should be addressed
to Peter Delaney, Secretary-Treas-
urer, Lake Township Firehouse
Building, Harvey's Lake, Pennsyl-
vania, and shall be placed in a
sealed envelope sufficiently labeled
to indicate that it is a bid for the
bonds of this issue, before being
delivered to the aforesaid Secre-
tary-Treasurer. Bids will be re-
ceived up to Wednesday evening,
February 8, 1950 at 8 p.m. at
which time they will be publicly
opened at the aforementioned ad-
dress by the Secretary-Treasurer.
Bids must be accompanied by a
certified check, cashier's check or
treasurer's check drawn to the or-
der of the Treasurer of the Town-
ship of Lake, or a sum of money,
equal to two per centum of the
face amount of the bonds, as se-
curity against any loss resulting
from the failure of the bidder to
comply with the terms of his bid.
The deposit of each unsuccessful
bidder will be returned immediately
upon the award of the bonds or
the rejection of all bids. In the
case of the successful bidder, the
deposit will be held by the treas-
urer and will be applied on the
purchase price when the bonds are
actually delivered and paid for.
These obligations will be pay-
able from unlimited ad valorem
taxes.
The right is reserved to reject
any or all bids. For further
information apply to the un-
dersigned. By order of the
