Letters From France Tell How
CARE Packages A
re Appreciated
Hungry Europeans appreciate the

Since last year, Mrs, Shepherd

scriptions to her friends and neigh-
bors and using the profits to buy
{CARE packages for destitute fam-
ilies in France and Germany.
All of the families have sent
Mrs, Shepherd letters expressing
their appreciation for the food and
blankets sent to them through
CARE and now she is more than)
ever determined to send packages
to other families.
Mrs. Shepherd gives all the
credit to her Goss Manor and Back
Mountain neighbors for the success
of her one-woman campaign to
help others; but without her ini-
tiative and determination probably
nobody would have thought how
easy it is to help those who are
in need.
Among the letters received by
Mrs, Shepherd are two that tell
how CARE packages are welcomed
in France.

Carverton Methodist Church. Mrs.

New Building Plans
Lehman and Jackson Joint
School Board will attend a confer-
ence in Harrisburg on December
2 with Everett Quackenbush of the
Building Authority of the State De-
partment of Education, to discuss
preliminary plans for an addition
to Lehman Schools.
After plans are approved it is
expected to take from six to eight
weeks for architects, Lacy, Ather-
ton and Wilson to prepare final
drawings and six weeks before” all

Paul Gross of Coal-O-Matic Stok-
er Co., has given a‘new Fire Chief
heating plant for the new Lengel
home in Shavertown. Students at
Kingston Vocational School under
the - direction of Edward Kotchi are
doing much of the final finishing in

the property has been molested |
and that a small kerosene stove
and other materials were stolen,

Charles Nuss Jr., a second year
student at Kings Point Merchant
Marine training school, is on a
voyage to South America as cadet
officer aboard the U.S.S. Augustine
of the McCormick line.
He was home for one night last
week after completing a voyage
which included ports of call at
