By d’Alessio Land Declines Farm land values have started down in Pennsylvania. Between March 1 and July 1 the first decline in 16 years was recorded in Federal-State surveys, according to Miles Horst, State Secretary of Agriculture. The March-July 1949 decline of four per cent is highly significant, the Secretary declared, because it reflects the downward trend in farm income that has been re- ported in Pennsylvania so far this year, compared with past. : Based on 1912-14 Pennsylvania farm values equaling 100, the July 1949 index was 159 or six points under the peak of 165 reached last March. It was one point under last November levels, but two points higher than July 1948. The percentage change in dollar value of farms in Pennsylvania was up one per cent between July 1948 and July 1949. Pennsylvania farm values this July were 83 per cent higher than the 1935-'39 pre-war levels, Secre- tary Horst pointed out.
