Not Have Died in Vain”
Some thoughtless or malicious
person, with total disregard for the
American flag and its dead heroes,
shot holes as big as pennies through
the little white flower basket placed
on the grave of George Race, War-
dan Cemetery, by his mother on
Memorial Day, and barely missed
the flag behind it. Caretakers at
the cemetery say that such dese-
cration is not an unusual occur-
ance. Amazing, isn't it?
George, you remember, died in
an airplane accident while serving
his country.

Shavertown Field Days
Shavertown Volunteer Fire Com-
pany will hold its annual Field Days
Wednesday evening, June twenty-
second through Saturday, June 25.
Games and bingo will be featured
with prizes for both. Thursday
evening the Ladies’ Auxiliary will
serve a roast beef dinner from 5:30
to 7 p.m.
It is expected that there will be
pony rides for the children.
Injured With Baseball
Little Joyce Hirleman, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hirleman was
admitted to Nesbitt Hospital Tues-
day after she was hit with a base-
ball while watching the Kiwanis
Junior League game on Shaver-
town Grade School grounds. X-rays
were taken to determine the ex-
tent of her injuries.
