Members of St. Luke’s Lutheran-
Church, Noxen, were happy to have
their pastor, Rev. Henry Kraft back
in the pulpit again on Sunday. It
was his first sermon since his ac-
cident several months ago.
Robert Currie and son Bobby at-
tended the Penn State reunion last
week while Mrs. Currie attended
the reunion of her Alma Mater,
Wilson College, at Chambersburg.
Mrs. Walter Dressel, Shavertown,
has been ill at her home.

Terrace Drive, Shavertown enter-
tained the following guests recent-
ly, Mr. and Mrs. William Thomp-

Wilkes-Barre and the latter’s par-

son, Shavertown. On May 23, Mr.
and Mrs. Stevenson observed their
49th wedding anniversary and Mr.
and Mrs, Hughes celebrated their
12th year of marriage.
Henrietta Hughes, Terrace Drive,
will be 11 years old on Sunday.
Henrietta has two grandmothers
living, Mrs. John Stevenson and
Mrs. Sam Hughes and three great
grandmothers, Mrs. Bert Miller,
Mrs. Charles Hughes and Mrs. May

Mrs. Richard Womer, Noxen, is
recovering from painful injuries
suffered in a fall at her home last
week.
Claire Griesing, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Greising, Frank-
lin street, Dallas, will leave for
Camp Onawanda, June 20 to serve
as councilor for the summer.
Kent Sickler, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Sickler, Carverton, cele-
brated his birthday on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dourand, Ter-
race Drive, Shavertown is ill at her
home.

ton, celebrated their fifteenth wed-
ding anniversary on Monday.

Earl Family Meets
After Twenty Years
John and Thomas Earl of Car-
verton recently had a happy re-
union with their brother, Lee Earl
of Los Angeles, who left this
area twenty years ago. He flew
here Sunday, May 29 to visit his
relatives in the East. A brief visit
in 1942, when as a member of
Uncle Sam’s Navy, his boat docked
at Norfolk, was the only other get
together the brothers had since
Lee went West. After spending five
days with Thomas and John, Mr.
Earl left for Vestal, N.Y. where
he visited another brother, Daniel.
From New York he flew to Detroit
to spend some time with his sis-
ter, Mrs, James Nesbitt and thence
back to sunny California, thus end-
ing a very pleasant trip.
Four Generations Enjoy
Kunkle Family Dinner
Four generations enjoyed a din-
ner at the home of Mr. and Mrs,
Forest Kunkle at Kunkle on Sun-
day. Mrs. Johnson Coolbaugh, Mrs.
Forrest Kunkle, Alan Kunkle and
three month old Wayne Kunkle.
Others present were: Johnson Cool-
baugh, Forrest Kunkle, Mrs. Alan
Kunkle, Mr. and Mrs. Laing Cool-

Miss Wilma Ickinger To Marry
Miss Wilma Ickinger, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Icking-
er, Carverton, will be married to
Layton Fish of Trucksville Satur-
day afternoon in Carverton Meth-
odist Church. Rev. Robert Wood
will officiate. Miss Melinda Sue Sut-
ton will be organist and Sam Davis
of Trucksville, vocalist.
Miss Ickinger has chosen as at-
tendants her sister, Miss Hilde-
garde Ickinger, maid of honor and
Miss Elfriede Vrel, bridesmaid. Wil-
lard Piatt will act as best man
and Kenneth and Clifford Wolfe,
ushers. Little Elfriede Marie Hefft
will be flower girl.
Layton Fish Tomorrow Afternoon
Following the ceremony, a dinner
will be served’ at the church fol-
lowed by a reception at the home
of the bride. The couple will honey-
moon in Canada.
Miss 'Ickinger was graduated
from Kingston Township High
School in the class of 1945. She
has been employed by the O'Neil
Motor Company in Kingston. Mr.
Fish was also graduated from
Kingston Township High School,
class of 1945 and is employed ‘by
White Motor Company.
The couple will reside on Bidlack
Street, Forty-Fort.
Miss Dorothy Ruth York, daugh-
ter of Mrs. W. S. York and the late
Rev. Mr. York, of 641 Westmore-
land Avenue, Kingston, became the
bride of Roger McSweeney, son of
the late Dr. and Mrs, Edward Mec-
Sweeney of New York City.
The ceremony was performed on
Saturday, May 20, in Brooklyn, Mr.
and Mrs. W. S. York, Manhasset,
N.Y., brother: and sister-in-law of
the bride, were the attendants.

Mrs. McSweeney is a graduate of
Wyoming Seminary, Mansfield State
Teachers College and Columbia Un-
iversity. She is presently a teach-
er in the Sayville, Long Island,
schools.
Mr. McSweeney is a graduate of
New York City High School and
Harvard University. He is a radio
engineer for International Tele-
phone and Telegraph Company.

Wednesday honoring Miss Mary Va-
hey, teacher of French and Phys-
ical Education at Dallas Township
Miss Vahey will marry Gerald A.
Mulderig July 2.

O'Neil, Margaret Kane, Fern Van-
Sant, Mary Mohr, Lara Mitten, the
guest of honor and the hostess.
Miss Vahey, a graduate of Col-
lege Misericordia, has been a teach-
er at Dallas Township for the past

Seventh Birthday Party
Master William A. Valentine 4th,
son of Attorney and Mrs. William
A. Valentine, Twin Oaks, Lehman,
was host to a number of guests
at a birthday party held at his
home on Saturday. Billy was seven
years old.
Centerpiece. was a large cake
decorated to represent a circus.
Many games were played and a
number of prizes given. Every man-
ner of entertainment necessary to
delight small hearts was available
to the young guests.

Harry Hughey, Fernbrook. Center-
piece was a large pink and white
cake, inscribed with “Best Wishes
Doris Mae”. Favors were corsages
made of attractive candies. Bingo
and cards made up the entertain-
ment.
