= BILL'S BITS By Bill Hart From here it looks like Fairview is a sure bet for the boy's title . . . . In the topsy turvy girl's league, any prediction is liable to backfire, but Dallas Borough girls have too much offensive and defensive power for the other teams in the loop . . . . aN Dallas Borough girls, by the way, are in a very nice position, they will have the same team back with them next year . . . . most of this years’ team are juniors. Runners-up in the boy’s league look like Kingston Township, Dal- las Borough and Lehman in that order . . . . The next three games in the girl's league are anybody's guess, but (will come out of this group; Dallas Township, Kingston Township, Lehman and Laketon. . . . With Dallas and Kingston Township the top teams. Dallas Borough travels to Fair- view tonight determined to upset the favored Mountain Top five and regain some of its lost prestige . . . Fairview, however, has two definite advantages . . . . It's playing on its own court and can boast two out of the league’s three top scor- ers. . . . The Borough, on the other hand, has a smooth evenly bal- anced outfit plus the incentive to score a victory. . . . Fairview will have to be on its toes for this one. Laketon visits Dallas Township with the victor in this event mov- ing out of the cellar, breaking the]. tie for the last place spot. . . . Both ® are evenly matched and striving ~ for the victory. . . . Laketon was the winner 34-30 in the first game at home . . . . The high scoring Katies, averaging 49 points a game with a total of 393 points, only one © point behind the 394 total of the leading Fairview team, will invade Harter in another tough game. . . . Harter, in fifth place, has thrown a scare into the leaders a number of times. Tuesday will feature two blood games. . . . Fairview will be host to the Lehman Scotties and plans to avenge the earlier, and only, defeat handed them. . . Harter goes to Dallas Borough and the Borough is still smarting under the defeat handed them the first half, thereby killing their title hopes. . . . A victory for the Bor- ough will keep them in the top four. . . . In the remaining game Kingston Township engages Lake- ton at home in what should be the Katie's game, The top girl's game will be Fri- days’ Laketon - Dallas Township affair. . . . Dallas Township, in a tie with Kingston Township for sec- ond place, must win this one to stay on top . . . . Both Dallas Town- ship and Kingston Township are one-half game out of first place behind the league leading Dallas Borough team. . . .“Laketon girls figure in another important game on Tuesday when they meet Kings- ton Township. . . . The Katies will need this win, while a double vic- tory for the Laketon girls over the weekend will place them near the top again. Biggest surprise the past week was Dallas Township's double vic- tory over Lehman. . . . The girl's teams were rated almost even, but the Lehman boys were figured at least ten points better. . . . But disregarding all odds the girls won and the boys turned in an amazing cc om 7 3 THE POST, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1949 ; ounce = a ! - ¥7 f 7. Parker's Texaco Station Installs Tabet Machine A Tabet Quick Oil Changer, has ben introduced to the Back Moun- tain area by George Parker, Tex- aco Station, Shavertown. This ma- chine, one of twelve in this sec- tion of the state, is a compact cab- inet containing a motor, suction pump and resevoir. Operating on a vacuum principle, it drains the oil from the crankcase in three min- utes with a minimum of trouble by means of hoses, even draining more oil than the regular draining procedure. Parker, who resides in Trucks- ville Gardens, began management of the Texaco Station early last sum- mer with his sons, John and Cliff. Discussing the Tabet machine, Par- ker stated its installation one of many steps being taken to make the station the most modern and best equipped in the region. ae my RRR RY Owality St” All types of sta tionery, announce- ments, direct mail circulars printed here.
