Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hicks and
family of New York spent the week
end visiting the former's parents

several days on a fishing trip
through Canada.

phia spent the weekend visiting

Center Hill road entertained at
cards Saturday evening Dr. and
Mrs. Albert G. Morrish of Wilkes-
Barre and Mr. and Mrs, A. G. Ed-
dinger of East Dallas.
David Joseph of Norton avenue
who recently submitted to a serious
operation at General Hospital is
able to be out again. He walked
over to the Post Saturday and had
a nice visit with the editor.
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen J. Ward
of Alderson have returned from an
enjoyable week-end motor trip
to upper New York State. They
visited .in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Lester Ferriss of Livonia; and
also with their daughter Florence
of Rochester, who has been em-
ployed at the Genesee Hospital of
that city. Florence has recently re-
signed her position at the above in-
stitution, and has returned to her
, home at Alderson with her parents.
F. Warren Chamberlain of Goss
Manor is a member of the freshman
class at University of Miami.
Mrs. Mart Harding and children
returned to their home in Raleigh,
N. C. after spending the summer
with the former's mother, Mrs. T.
M. Hicks, Jr., of Demunds Road.
William James of Vernon is en-
rolled in the freshman class at Penn
State College. Mr. and Mrs, James
have rented the Evans apartment at
Vernon and expect to spend the
winter there.
Miss Elizabeth Parks of Wilkes-
‘Barre spent Wednesday calling on
old friends and relatives Back of
the Mountain.
Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Richards of
Lehman avenue and Mr, and Mrs.
Thomas Gansel of Kingston visited
in Doylestown on Sunday.
William Howell of Tampa, Fla.,
is spending a two week vacation
with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. G.
L. Howell of Trucksville.

Jacob Gansel of Alliance, Ohio, is
visiting his ninety-nine year old
father, James J. Gansel at the home
of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Gaug-
han of Warrior Run.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gilbert, for-
mer Harvey's Lake residents, now
of Newark, N. J., had as weekend
guests Mr. and Mrs. Earl Evans Jr.,
of Kingston. Sunday the Gilberts
spent at Asbury Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bestwick of
Birch street, Elmcrest, are enter-
taining Mr. Bestwick’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Bestwick of Wash-
. ington, R. I. Mrs. Margaret Wil-
liams, mother of Mrs. Bestwick,
is visiting relatives in New York.
Thomas Edwards, coach at Dallas |
Township High School, has found a
home in Kingston Township and
will bring his family here from
Pittsburgh shortly.
Mrs. Cora Finn of Goss Manor is
spending some time in Washington,
D, .C.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wirsing have
moved from the Gleason house on
Demunds road to Lathrop street,
Kingston.
John A. Joseph, 205 Pioneer ave-
nue, is a patient at Wilkes-Barre
General Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Splitt of
Ceasetown had as Sunday dinner
guests Mr. and Mrs. Raymond War-
ner, Hilda, of Lehman, Mr, and Mrs.
Velton Bean and Randy and Linda
of Jackson.
Miss Elma Major, teacher at Al-
lentown, spent the weekend with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
Major of Huntsville.
Mrs. Elva Warmouth and family
have moved into the homestead
with Harvey Moss at Huntsville.
Mr. and Mrs. John Fowler of
Orange spent three days at the |
Bloomsburg Fair last week.
Mrs. Jane Isaacs of Shavertown
spent several days this week with
Mrs. Julia Kunkle,
Robert Ashburner of East Orange,
N. J., spent the weekend with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ash-
burner.
William G. Ashburner has return-
ed from overseas after serving for
two years and five months in
Heidleburg, Germany, with the med-
ical corps.
John Robert, Hazel Louise and
Francis William, children of Mr. and
Mrs. F. W. Smith of Orange at-
tended Bloomsburg Fair on Friday.
Mrs. Lena McNeal has returned to
her home after visiting friends and
relatives in New York.
Mrs. Della Thompson of Trucks-
ville is a patient at a. hospital in
New York City.
Paul Shaver Jr. and Bobby Shav-
er of Dallas are at Fort Devers,
Mass., serving with the U. S. Army.
Mrs. Allan Scattergood and Linda
and Allan returned to their home
at Crescent Park Sunday after
spending some time with Mrs, Scat-
tergood’'s mother, Mrs. Melvin Mos-
ier of Kunkle road. .
Dr. and Mrs. George R. Flack;
of Main road, Trucksville, are tour-
ing Virginia and from there expect
to go to Canada. :
Mrs. H, A. Smith and Mrs. J.
Stanley Rinehimer of Dallas will at-
tend the three day convention of
the Daughters of the American Rev-
olution in Harrisburg next week.
Mrs. Bertha Jenkins of Huntsville
and her grandson and granddaugh-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Arlington Van-
derhoff of Lehman Heights spent
Sunday in Philadelphia where they
visited Mrs. Halsey Vanderhoff. Mrs,
Vanderhoff is the daughter of Mrs,
Jenkins and mother of Mr. Vander-
hoff.
Rev. Russell Edmondson of Kings-
ton Township spent last week in
Rockwell Center, L. I., visiting his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Ed-
mondson.
Dr. and Mrs. C. Stuart Smith
of Elizabethtown, Pa., spent several
days this week with the latter's
sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Murray Scureman of Hunts-
ville road.
Mrs. Harry Ohlman, Mrs. Dan
Robinhold and Mrs. David Jenkins
and Mrs. Don Richards spent sev-
eral days this week in New York
City.
Richard Palmer of Mill street has
returned to his home after submit-
ting to a major operation at Gen-
eral Hospital. He and his family
wish to express their appreciation
to all the blood donors and those
who sent flowers and cards.
Mr. and Mrs. William Sharp, for-
mer residents of Moyallen street,
Wilkes-Barre, have moved to 509
Main road, Dallas.
Mr.- and Mrs. A. D. Hutchison of
Overbrook avenue had as weekend
guests Mr. and Mrs. Howard Strong

the engagement ‘and approaching
marriage of Mrs. Meneeley’s daugh-
ter, Gloria Rose Atwell to Jack
Bradley Kitchen, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Byron Kitchen of Shavertown.
The ceremony will be performed
in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Sat-
urday, October 16 at 2 o'clock,
after which a reception will be held
at the Fire Hall in Shavertown.
Russell Gilberts Are
Honored On Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gilbert
of Newark, N. J., former Harvey's
Lake residents, celebrated their
first wedding anniversary at a din-
ner party last Saturday, October 2.
The party table was attractive
with centerpiece of three tiered
bridal cake with white tapers and
bachelor buttons at either end.
Out-of-town guests were Mr, and
Mrs. Earl Evans Jr. and Suzanne
of Kingston, Miss Del Phillips of
Plymouth, Pa. Newark guests were
Mr. and Mrs. John Moore, Mr. and
Mrs. Danny Edwards, Mr. and Mrs.
‘Joseph Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen
Szyer, Mrs. Mary Foran, Mr. and
Mrs. Curgon Mills and Kenneth,

Eleanore May Petrella
To Wed William Silic
Announcement has been made of
the engagement of Eleanore May,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Andrew
Petrella of Lehigh street, Wilkes-
Barre, and William Silic, son of
Mrs. Julia Silic and the late Michael
Silic of Yeager avenue, Shavertown.
Miss Petrella is a graduate of
G. A. R. High School and is em-
ployed by the Roslyn Shop. Mr.
Silic, a veteran of World War 2,
attended Dallas Township Schools
and is employed by the George P.
Steinhauer Company.
The wedding will take place No-
vember 27.

On His Seventy-Sixth Birthday
David Bevan celebrated his sev-
enty-sixth birthday anniversary
Saturday, September 18 in the form
of a family reunion.
The gathering starfed in the
morning and la; throughout the

a deliciofis ham dinner.
