Co. 2 tablespoons mustard seed 1 teaspoon turmeric Y% tablespoon celery seed 1 piece horseradish Soak cucumbers and onions (separately) 5 to 10 hours in brine made by dissolving one-half cup of salt in one-half gallon cool water. Drain well. Add onion, 21% cups vinegar, and 2% cups water to the cucumbers. Simmer about 15 minutes. Do not cook until soft. Drain. Discard liquid in which scalded. Make sirup by boiling the sugar and spices with three cups vinegar and one cup water for five minutes. Pack well- drained cucumbers and onions in hot Ball Jars. Cover with boiling sirup and seal. There will be juvenile as well as adult com- petitions. Special features will be a hobby show and trade-in table where gardeners can trade their surplus plants with other gardeners. Mrs. Schooley has announced that classification lists will be dis- tributed shortly, but in the mean- time urges all growers to special attention to their crops so that exhibits can be en- tered in the show.
