Attend Founders’ Day
Program At Girard
Rev. and Mrs. James J. Hilbert
of the Alderson Methodist Church
and Miss Lois: Ward, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Ward of
Alderson, visited at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Phillips, rel-
atives of the Hilberts in Reading
last Friday afternoon and evening.
On Saturday morning they drove
to Philadelphia where they attend-

program was a gala affair. Ball
games were played between the
students and the Alumni members.
A picturesque parade of the var-
ious Alumni groups called forth
a great deal of favorable comment.
A beautiful service and concert was
given by the college choir and the
band, in the million dollar chapel
of the school. This was followed
by a drill parade of the Girard
College Cadets, and was command-

Other places of interest were
visited for a brief time during the
trip. Among them were “The Min-
iature Village,” which is just a few
miles from Hamburg; the beautiful
chapel at Valley Forge; the big
Philadelphia Wannamaker store;
part of the immense Fairmount
Park; the famous tower and the
“Pagoda,” which are on a high

point outside of Reading, and the
Reading airport.
On the return home late Satur-
day evening, stops were made at
the homes of relatives in Frack-
ville and Shenondoah, which is the
home town of Rev. Hilbert.
