At the annual society meeting of
the Glenview Primitive Methodist
Church the following officers were
elected to serve the church for the
coming year. Station Steward, Fred
Mintzer; Financial Steward, John
Lowe; Trustee for three years, Irv-
ing Thomas; Collectors for the Con-
ference Dues, Miss Verna Lamo-
reaux, Mrs. Lewis Stritzinger and
Mrs. Corey Crispell. Mr. Lowe was
elected delegate to the district meet-
ing to be held in Parsons in April.

Mrs. Charles Agnew and Mrs.
Howard Crosby solicited for Red
Cross contributions in Idetown last
week and colleeted $11. Many of
the homes visited by them had con-
tributed at their places of business
BLOCKADE HINDERS HOBBY
The blockade resulting from war in Europe and the Near East is caus-
ing profound repercussions in the private life of Juliana Taberna, above,
heard as “Rosa Valmorei” in the popular NBC-Blue Network serial, “Or-
phans of Divorce.” Her hobby is Egyptology and she collects Oriental and
Near Eastern art treasures.

guest of honor on her birthday at a
party given by her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Hontz, of Terrace
Drive, Shavertown last Thursday

is conducting college meetings all
over the country for the purpose
of deepening the college students
viewpoint and of focusing attention
on the opportunities at his disposal
for accomplishing good. Sunday,
March 9th, the “College Day of
Spiritual Motives” was held at
Fordham University, N. Y. College
student-leaders and faculty mem-
bers of both men and women’s col-
leges throughott the east participa-
ted. College Misericordia representa-
tives were Miss Anne Dolan of
Great Neck, L. I, and Miss Helen
Mang of Honesdale, Pa. Father
Lord treated such timely subjects
as: “The College Life and the Life
of Faith”; “The Collegian as a
Salesman of Christ's Cause”; and
“The Collegian and the Making of
the Future.”
Poetry Meeting
The Saint Teresa Poetry Society
of College Misericordia held its
monthly meeting in the Library of
the College Sunday afternoon,
March 9 at 2:30 p. m., with Miss
Mary Claire McCauley as Chairman.
The Poems of the month were read
and voted upon as follows: Miss
Mary Claire McCauley ‘Dirge for a
Mountaineer,” and Miss Regina
Kelly, “Sonnet.” Tea was served
after the discussions.

Money For Uniforms
About 100 parents and teachers
enjoyed the moving pictures pre-
sented ‘by Purina Feed Company at
Lehman PTA meeting Monday even-
ing. Plans for a play to help pay
for band uniforms were discussed.
Cast members are being selected and
directing has been turned over to
Mrs. Arthur Major. There were sev-
eral selections by the high school
orchestra.

Woman’s Society of Christian
Service of Idetown Methodist
Church had a dinner meeting at
the church Wednesday noon. Mem-
bers completed the quilt underway.

Shavertown Unit Has
52 Charter Members
A Townsend Club with 52 char-
ter members was organized and of-
ficers elected at a meeting of Towns-
end supporters Tuesday night in the
Shavertown Hose House. i
Rev. R. S. Nichols was elected
president. Other officers are: Wil-
liam Roushey, 1st vice-president;
Samuel Woolbert, 2nd vice-presi-
dent; Mrs. Russell Cease, secretary,
and William F. Myers, treasurer.
Rev. Nichols and Mrs. Meyers were
chosen delegates to the Townsend
District Convention to be held in
WilkesBarre on March 24.
The next meeting of the Shaver-
town unit will be held Tuesday
night, March 25. All persons inter-
ested, as well as the public in gen-
eral, are invited to attend.
