Lehman defeated Dallas Township Friday night on the township floor
in a game that went into overtime periods. The contest was a nip and
tuck battle all the way. With Dallas Township leading 20-18 and only
one-quarter minute left to play, fans thought Lehman had lost a tough
game. Then it happened. Chet Rusloski intercepted a pass from the
Township quintet and hooped the sphere to tie the game at 20 all as the
whistle shrieked ending the game.
The game then went into a 3-minute extra period with Bittenbender
caging one for the Township, to put them ahead 22-20. D. Rusloski of
Lehman, was fouled and awarded a free throw. He tallied bringing Leh-
man within one point of the Township. Then McCarty of Lehman was
fouled. It was a tense moment for the players, as well as McCarty. This
free throw would enable him to tie the score. He eyed the hoop and
then let go the ball. There it was! The score tied, as the whistle shrilled
announcing the ending of the extra period. !
The crowd was tense, the players®
nervous, as they started the “quick
death period”. (The team scoring
the first point winning the game).
The ball went into the Township's
possession who soon lost it “as it
traveled out of bounds. Lehman
then took charge, passing the sphere
to Chet Dropchinski, who tallied,
winning the game for Lehman, with
a sensational goal from twenty feet
out.

Motor Club yesterday issued a final
reminder that both operators’ li-
censes and motor vehicle inspection
stickers must be renewed by the end
of the month. Failure to fulfill both
requirements within the week ahead,
the club continued, will make del-
inquent drivers subject to fines, ar-
rest and interrupted operating pri-
vileges.
Norman Johnstone, secretary-
manager of the club, said the possi-
bility of confusion and forgetfulness
arises from the fact that this is only
the second occasion on which Penn-
sylvania motorists have had to meet
the twin deadlines simultaneously.
The first occasion arose last year
when legislation, sponsored by
Pennsylvania Motor Federation and
enacted by the 1939 General Assem-
bly, changed the renewal dates for
operators’ licenses and motor vehi-
cle registrations. The latter were
made renewable on April 1, thus re-
lieving motorists of the necessity
for purchasing new license tags dur-
ing the Christmas holiday season.
“At this time, nearly half of
Pennsylvania’s motorists are en-
said. “Under legislation effective

for the first time last year, drivers’!
January 31 is also the deadline
for motor vehicle inspection. Every
car must bear an official inspection
sticker issued during the three-
month period that began last Nov-
ember. In the enforcement drive
that starts February 1, motor vehi-
cles without new stickers will, in ac-
cordance with the law, be ordered to
the nearest inspection station and
be ‘grounded’ until inspected and
approved while their operators or
owners will be liable to arrests and
fines.
“Motor vehicle owners and opera-
tors who must comply with both
laws during the few days before the
deadline are confronted by different
problems. JT can obtain their
1941-42 operafors’ cards in a day
or two if they mail properly-prepar-
ed application forms at once. The
State Bureau of Motor Vehicles is
demonstrating its customary ef-
ficiency in handling the huge, cur-
rent flood of applications.
“Last-minute inspections, how-
ever, present an entirely different
problem. Whether the motorist en-
counters delay, and possible inter-
ruption of his driving privilege, de-

Secret Service
Warns Against
Counterfeit Bills
Treasury Department
Lists Ways To Check
Good Money From Bad
The United States Treasury De-
partment through the Philadelphia
office of the Secret Service Division
has issued a warning against the
appearance of counterfeit notes and
coins. ;
Special scrutiny is urged for $5
and $10 Silver Certificates, Blue
Seal, and for $10 Federal Reserve
Notes, Green Seal. Check letters and
face plate numbers A32, D32, J26
or H26 if they appear on the $10
Silver Certificate indicate a counter-
feit bill. Check letters and face
: | numbers F942 or J870 on $5 Silver
Certificates indicate a bad bill as do
numbers D81, or 181 on the $10
Federal Reserve Notes.
The Secret Service gives five
ways to check bogus bills. Portrait
lis flat, dull, smuggy, and does not
stand out distinctly from oval back-
ground. Serial numbers are usually
tirregular or out of alignment. Col-
ored seal lacks clear fine detail.
Paper does not contain colored
threads. Printing on face and back
does not have clearcut, sharp
outline as on ‘genuine note.
Always compare a doubtful look-
ing note with another of the same
denomination, examining the feat-
ures stressed above. When a coun-
terfeit note is received do not return
it. If the passer is a stranger de-
lay him under pretext and telephone
the police immediately. Avoid argu-
ment. Write down a description of
the passer if he departs and take
license number of automobile if he
has one.
Drum Corps Not Allowed
In Inaugural Parade
Some seventy-five Shickshinny
residents, including the Boys’ Bugle
Corps were disappointed this week
when they were not permitted in the
inaugural parade after making the
long trip to Washington, D. C.
They were none-the-less thrilled
with their experiences, watching the
parade from vantage points near
the White House, cheering loudly
when a division of tanks, including
100 of the design built in Berwick,
passed by.
