Men Who Owe Taxes
Will Work At School
After innumerable delays and one
argument over a foreman, the long-
awaited job to install septic tanks
and drain pipes at the Trucksville
grade school began yesterday
morning, with Gale Garey of Shav-
ertown as foreman.
The original plans called for the
work to be done as a WPA project
and it was approved by the board
and WPA officials, but a quarrel
over the appointment of a foreman
held up the work last week and it
was finally decided that the job will
be done by the unemployed men of
the township, who will work out
their taxes.
Paul Callahan of West Pittston,
an engineer, will direct the work.
Elwood Kresge of Shavertown was
named timekeeper. Thirty-five men
have registered to work and 20
names will be taken from that list
to start this week. The other men
will work the second week. It is
hoped the job can be completed in
two weeks.
