Catch Highlights
Sunday's Crucial Game
Apparently in fine fettle after a
two-weeks’ rest, the Dallas Arrows
hammered their way back toward
the top of the league last Sunday
by trimming Beaumont, 9 to 0, and
pushing into a tie for second place
with Vernon.
The victory over Beaumont, which
has been leading the bi-county
league, was a particularly tall feath-
er in the cap of the Arrows, who
have been having a tough time
starting against some bad breaks
this year.
Chet Sutton, who pitched for Dal-
las, was the star of a team which
seemed to have its full share of
stars that afternoon. The hard-
hitting Beaumont batters were able
to collect only two hits off Sutton.
Archie Austin, Beaumont’s ace
hurler, gave Dallas six hits.
One of the prettiest plays of the
afternoon was pulled off by Billy
Polisky, who made ‘a spectacular
running catch in right center field
to end a Beaumont assault. Po-
lisky also stretched a three-base
hit into a four-bagger when he came
home on an error of the Beaumont
third baseman, who missed a catch.
Danny Rusiloski also was cred-
ited with a three-base hit for Dallas.
Schwab's Wildcats

The third week of the summer
schedule of the St. John’s Bowling
League finds the teams closely
bunched up with the Soggy Tomek’s
Exeter Recreation leading. Joe
Schwab and his Wild Cats engaged
the leaders in an effort to land on
top, but “Blitzkrieg” Soggy Tomek
anticipating the Wild Cats inten-
tions sent in his ‘Panzer” shock
trooper, Phil Gelso, who rolled
through the Wild Cats for enor-
mous gains and winning the match
for the Exeter team.
Schedule for next week: Monday,
Spinicci Garage vs. Schwab's Wild
Cats; Dwyer Bros. vs. St. John’s
Recreation; 9, Exeter Recreation vs.
L. A. Office. Wednesday, Harchar’s
Hucksters vs. Buddies’ Men's Shop;

COON HOUNDS YIP ALONG TRAIL
LEFT BY DRAG ON MILE COURSE
Two of this section’s best-known
coon dogs — Malcolm Campbell's
“Coal Dust” and Ernest Martin's
“Sparky’’—romped off with honors
at the eighth field trial of Red Rock
Mountain Coon and Sporting Club
at Checkerboard Inn last Saturday
afternoon.
About 21 of the 30 registered
dogs turned up to nose along the
trail left by a water-soaked bag,
filled with the bedding of a captive
coon. The bag was dragged over a
mile course before the trials began.
At the end of the course a live
coon was place in a tree.
The winners were selected in
each of the five heats, the dog
which crossed the line first and the
dog which barked up the coon tree
first. Winners in each heat were:
First heat—line, Arnold’s ‘Queen’;
tree, Campbell's “Bob”; second
heat—Iline, Martin’s ‘Sparky’; tree,
draw; third heat—Iine, Campbell’s |
“Brownie”; tree, Campbell’s ‘Black !
Jim”; fourth heat—line, Chet Hess's

misinformed as to their date. Joe
Schwab is acting on the park com-
mittee. John Rahl and Tome “Pete”
Smith are on the food committee
with Joe Schwab and John Sobeck
on the refreshment committee.
Secretary Sarge is named general
chairman of the outing.
