Secret Practice
Prepares Lehman
For Dallas Twp.
Dallas Township Will
Play Tunkhannock
This Afternoon
Kingston Township high school
football team, which took ga firm
grip on the mythical Back Mountain
championship when it defeated Dal-
las Township, 18 to 0, last Satur-
day afternoon, will tackle Forty
Fort at Forty Fort tomorrow after-
noon for another important luzerne}
County Conference tilt.
Lehman, which will be idle this
week, is having secret practice in
anficipation of a lively contest with
Dallas Township next week. If Leh-
man can take that game it will have
a chance for the championship
when it ends its season by playing
Kingston Township, last year’s
champs.
Dallas Township will play Tun-
khannock at Dallas this (Friday)
afternoon at 2:30.
Last Saturday’s Kingston-Dallas
Township game was a colorful af-
fair. The Dallas Township 30-piece
band, resplendent in red caps, made
a smart appearance and received
generous applause for its drills be-
tween halves.
Kingston Township dominated
the field during play, however.
Coach Walter Hicks’ men scored
19 first downs to Dallas Township's
3. Kingston Township intercepted
or knocked down every pass Dallas
attempted.
Davis made the first touchdown
for Kingston Township on an end
run in the first quarter. The second
was on a pass, Stencil to Newhart,
in the second quarter. Stencil made
the third touchdown in the fourth
quarter on a line buck.
Minor injuries continue to take
their toll of Kingston Township's
team. Beck may be in the line-up
for the Forty Fort game but it is
unlikely that McFadden will be well
‘enough.
Coach Morgan’s Lehman Town-
ship team scored a hard-earned
victory last Thursday when it de-
feated Luzerne Reserves, 12 to 6.
Chet Rusiloski made the first touch-
down in the opening quarter on an
off-tackle play. Lehman’s second
touchdown came in the last quarter,
on a pass, Chet Rusiloski to Mec-
Carthy. Luzerne made its sole tally
when Crossin carried the ball across
on -an off-tackle play.

scores for the Anthracite team with

Luzerne Tries
To Strengthen
Defense Plays
Lions Favored To Take
Saturday's Game With
Meyers High School
ed hard this week to strengthen its
defense against passing attack. This
has been the Lion’s chief aveakness,
as well as the main reason for los-
ing their first game of the season
last week to Larksville.
The local boys played a good
brand of ball considering the condi-
tion of the field at Larksville. After
5 the first few minutes of play it was
hard for the spectators to distin-
guish the players of one school
{from those of the other. The field
was a mass of ‘mud and puddles of
water which hampered the boys
from - getting their driving attack
ing for the Lions.
This week the local boys take on
Meyers High at Connolly's field on
| Saturday afternoon, and the home
boys are the favorites.
