Minstrel Sept. 1
Denton Tefrey Will
Direct Church Affair
The three choirs of Trucksville
Methodist Church will present a
modern minstrel show in Kingston
Township High School, Friday,
September 15 at 8 p. m., under the
direction of Denton Trefry of
Wilkes-Barre.
The opening chorus will have a
gypsy setting and solo parts will be
sung by Mrs. George Reynolds, Jr.
End men will be Willard Woolbert,
Clarence Jones, Ray Gemmel and
James Trebilcox. Interlocutor will
be Sam Davis.
A chorus of sailors will take the
audience to many lands. Soloists
in these scenes will be Mrs. Harold
Croom. Mrs. Harold Marth, Sally
Wagner, Betty Palmer, Grace Morris,
Fred Finney, Bob Bachman, Sam
Davis, James Trebilcox, Willard
Wacelbert, Dick Cease, Clarence
Jones, Betsy Reynolds and Billy
Griffiths.
An appropriate patriotic scene
cleses the show with Mrs. Croom as
Miss America.
The proceeds from the show will
be used to purchase necessary gowns
and music for the choir. Tickets
may be purchased from choir mem-
bers or at the door.
Mysteries of the photographic
dark room are brought out in the
open at the New York World's
Fair. In two of the exhibits, photo-
graphic printers work behind amber
glass instead of in the dark, and
the public can watch photographs
being developed and printed.
Free picnic grounds have been
provided for visitors to the New
York World's Fair and family
groups daily lunch in the open air
on benches and tables especially
set out for them.
Don’t look now, but the only oil
in the oil well derrick that pounds
away day in and day out at the pe-
troleum exhibit of the New York
World's Fair is used to prevent
squeaks in the machinery.
Grange Meeting
Pamona Grange No. 44 will meet
with the Kunkle Branch at Kunkle
Saturday, September 9. The morn-
ing session will be called at 10:30
a. m. Afternoon session is open
to the public. Warden Healey will
speak.
OUTLET
Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver, Misses
Mary Zosh, Anna Zosh, Helen Zosh,
Marie Zosh and Wanda Henson of
Outlet, Leonard Crawford of Han-
over Township, spent the week-end
with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Zosh at Ber-
wick. While there they attended
the annual fireworks display.
Mrs. Laura Henson entertained
Sunday at her home in Outlet, Mrs.
Mable Milan, John Pasteur of Mauch
Chunk and Mr. and Mrs. Alvia Shaf-
fer and children of Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. David Kemp, Out-
let, entertained over the holiday
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Kemp, Thelma,
David and Daniel, Jr., of Philadel-
phia.
Miss Vera Ide, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Stephen Ide, left Labor
Day to enter General Hospital as
a student nurse.
Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver spent
Labor Day with the former's par-
ents in Waverly, N. Y.

Syracuse Fair last week with her

Sheldon Drake and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Paul LaBar, Dallas, called
on friends here, Labor Day.
The William Gay reunion was held
at West Falls at the cottage of
Stanley Dymond, Monday.
Miss Charlotte Goldsmith, De-
Munds, is teaching at Green Castle.
The baseball game Sunday after-
noon between Meshoppen and Ver-
non resulted in a 2-0 score in fa-
vor of Vernon. The game next Sun-
day will be played at Meshoppen.
James Storey is having his house
painted. Draper Schoonover is do-
ing the painting.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ellsworth
have moved to Forty Fort.
Kenneth Harding is attending
Wyoming Seminary this year.
There will be a brush demon-
stration held at the home of Mrs.
Frank Heitsman Friday evening.
Mrs. Ilma Major has sold her
farm to a Wilkes-Barre man,

At Trucksville Sunday
Miss Dorothy Smith, young So-
prano of Shavertown, will be guest
soloist at the September music ser-
vice to be held at Trucksville M. E.
Church, Sunday at 7:30 p. m. Miss
Smith is soloist of the Junior Choir
at Shavertown M. E. and has been
heard many times locally and at the
district conventions of the Meth-
odist Churches.
Mrs. B. Aubrey Ayre, who is or-
ganist and choir director of the
church will play a group of organ
solos and direct the choir in an
anthem. Rev. Harry M. Savacool
is minister of the church.
