STAND BY AMERICA
By Clara Cooke Kocher
Stand by, oh brave Americans,
This is an hour of need;
Our nations at a crisis,
Her dangers let us heed.
Our brave and nbble President
Is working for us all,
Stand by him in this struggle
Or great will be our fall.
You say that things could not be
- worse?
Ah, but they could, they could.
‘We all have been provided
‘With shelter and with food;
Our homes have been protected;
Our savings kept secure;
Our policies have been maintained
Our friends abroad endure,
We know that there is sorrow
- And poverty and greed,
But he who cared for Belgium's poor
Is mindfur-<f our need.
Compare our: lot with Europe's.
. And Asia’s and the rest’
In spite of all our troubles,
We still are greatly blest,
You Legion men, who bravely fought
Democracy to save,
Don’t be a. quitter at the time ~
Your nation’s needs are grave.
-
We know you need your bonus,
But would it be quite brave
To put your country on the rocks,
She whom you fought to save.
Don’t let the crave for wine and beer,
More urgent needs obscure.
We want our mills to open
Our homes and farms secure.
Stand by our faithful President,
Whose one and only thought
_ Has been the good of all mankink,
For them he’s bravely fought.
His patience and hig courage,
His wisdom, oh so great,
Hig faith and love for humankind,
Have saved the Ship of State.
We know that through his leadership,
‘Good times are on the way.
Let's give him time to carry on
And we will ‘win the day

School Dedication
Marks End
Of Plans Begun Four Years Ago
Directors Deserve Praise For
Carrying Projects Through
Kingston township’s new high
school building, which was dedicated
on Wednesday night, represents the
realization of plans which have been
under consideration for many years
and which first reached -a definite
stage about four years ago.
The question of a new high school
wags raised on November 6, 1928, when
a bond issue for that purpose was de-
feated at an election. On September
26, 1931, the hoard passed a resolution
authorizing an increase in the bonded
indebtedness in the sum of $85,000. At
the election held on November 3, 1931,
the increase was ratified overwhel-
mingly by a vote of 701 to 152.
Estimates for the grading of the
property selected ran as high as $20,-
000, but, after having tests made, the
board was cenvinced that no unusual
conditions existed, and this
tions was born out by the contract
conten-
price of $4:415.for the grading of the.
athletic field. :
There was a considerable saving ef
fected in: issuing serial bonds instead
of using a ‘sinking fund method to re-
tire the bonds. The first bonds are to
be retired next year upon payment of
$3,500. .Inieach subsequent year as
the interest amount is reduced, a
larger reduction is made until’ the last
payment will be made in 1947.

LOCATION OF NEW |
° SCHOOL ATTRACTIVE
The new Kingston township high
school building, perched proudly above
the buildings and highways of the
Trucksville valles, has a natural set-~
ting which present an appearance as
attractive as any in this section j
It is recalled that considerable, dif- |
ficulty arose in determining the loca- |
tion of the school, and the present
site was originally offered at a price
of $21,500, to which amount the Board
objected. After extended negotiations
repeated conferences, appraisals by
expert realtors and even legal entang-
lements, condemnation proceedings
were instituted and the present plot
was finally purchased for $8,750.
The harmonious architecture of the
building is accentuated and improved
by the natural beauty of the environ-
ment.
