Ex- aminers were: Elwood Swingle, Rev. W. H. Stang and Scoutmaster Eck. Winners of Awards The following girl scouts, members of Troop 9, have been awarded badg- es for completing the following sub- jects: Dorothea Ayers Courtright, observers; Ruth Evans, first aid; Charlotte Monk, Marguerite Patton, observer , and Emma Ruth Shaver, observer. Supper Postponed The fire company members at a meeting held last week at the school house decided to postpone the supper that was scheduled for Wdnesday night at the local M. E. church until some time in October, probably seventh. In the meantime, anyone wishing to assist the firemen in mak- ing this annual affair a financial suc- cess, can help out considerably by sending their donations to George Shaver at his barber shop street. Any line of food stuffs that may be used at the affair will be ap- preciated. Hospital List Hugh Williamson is slowly improv- ing at the General hospital following an operation. Herbert Williams is able to be about his home following a recent opera- tion. Ambrose Miller is able to be about on crutches at his home after being discharged from the General hospital, where he was removed following a fall from. a scaffold oi which he was working. Richard Harrison is still confined to the hospital following injuries he re- ceived when an automobile in which he was a passenger overturned. Frank: Ohlman has been removed to his home from the Robert Packer hos- pital ‘at Sayre, where he had treat- ments. Teachers Transferred A number of teachers have been transferred throughout the various school rooms of the local school house. Miss Kathryn Phillips, form-| erly teacher of the .third grade, has gradé school where she is teaching grade school where sh eis teaching fifth grade. Miss Georgiana Weidner newly appointed to teach fifth grade at the Trucksville building is teach- ing fourth grade here. Miss Lamor- eoux has been changed from the fourth grade to the sixth' grade and Miss Bernice Spencer from the sixth to the third grade. Work Progressing The new pipe line being laid by the United Engineers and Contractors of Philadelphia, and which goes through the township at Trucksville, is well under way. At present the large force of men are working in the vic- inity of Trucksville Gardens. Many miles of pipe is being laid from Ran- som. The pipe is to be used by ‘the Sun Gasoline Co. in carrying gasoline from its main plant in New Jersey. Tax Notices Cut Tax Collector Milton Neyhart has been busy the past week in putting the 1930-31 tax notices in the mail. These taxes if paid by October 1, will be al- lowed a 5 per cent discount on all but the school and road tax. If paid aft- er October 1, a 5 per cent penalty will be added on all taxes. The cards be- ing mailed now are for school, coun- ty and poor. : In many instances substantial in- creases are noticeable. Erect Fence Workmen of the J. B. Price Co. of Hazelton have completed the task of erecting a fence on the school prop- erty on Centre street. The fence is of galvanized wire, fourfeethigh.
